Pass first guys---Zuccarello, Stepan, Brassard, Hayes, Miller, Fast, Yandle.

In between guys--Lindberg, Stalberg, Moore, Stoll, McDonagh, Girardi, Staal.

Shoot first guys--Nash, Kreider, Boyle, Klein.

Don't know yet--Etem, McIlrath.

To me the top group pass up shots--make an extra pass all the time. Fast might be the outlier but he's no shooter. Not really. In Hartford over 60+ regular season games he averaged about 1.5 shots per game. With the Rangers over the span of time he's been here he's averaged under a shot a game. Again he's not a shooter.

There's no way we have that many shoot-first guys. 28 teams have attempted more shots than us.

Brassard - pass first
Lindberg - shot first, barely. He's close to the middle
Miller - pass first
Moore - middle
Stepan - pass first
Stoll - middle
Kreider - Shoot-first
Nash - Shoot-first
Stalberg - middle
Etem - middle
Fast - middle
Hayes - Neither, just dangle
Zuccarello - Still pass-first, he's just cashing in on his chances.
Boyle - Pass first
Girardi - middle
Klein - shot first
McDonagh - Middle
McIlrath - Don't really know yet
Staal - pass first
Yandle - Wouldn't shoot with a gun to his head

I count four guys, and out of the four, Kreider and Nash really only succeed from very close range, and Lindberg really only attempts to shoot from very close range. The only guy on the entire team willing the let one rip as his first instinct, and able to score on it, is ****ing Kevin Klein.

This team desperately needs to add a volume shooter who can score from range at the deadline. The tic-tac-toe **** goes away in the late rounds of the playoffs.

Yandle needs to start firing the puck already. He has a good slapper and wrister. Even when the lane is fairly clear he still passes it up. It's so annoying.

That doesn't mean we dont have shoot first players though. Some of our shoot first players just hold onto the puck too long, or look for the perfect shot. And on other teams they just shoot any garbage shot from anywhere.

Then they're not really shoot-first players.

Yes they are. Jeff Carter is a Shoot first player but plays for the perfect shot.

Ovi is a shoot first player and shots from everywhere.

Same type of players didn't shooting techniques.

Fair enough, but they're certainly not volume-shooters. Which is really not our system and that's fine, but I think you need at least one guy who makes your team versatile.

Matt Moulson isn't particularly good and hasn't even been a high volume shooter since 2012-2013. Why would we possibly want him?

Great point bro, he is a good all around offensive player. Just wish he was more selfish sometimes...I'm sure looks around and sees Marc Staal or Dan Girardi instead of Oliver Ekman-Larsson and thinks to himself "this pass ain't gonna count on the stat sheet"
So just start letting them rip Keith! I remember that filthy snipe off the bar on Bishop, I wanna see more of that!

Who seems to be continuing his trend of having good/not so good seasons.

Can't remember who it was, but years ago someone posted the following: "Del Zotto's parents wanted to emigrate to the US but they shot wide and ended up in Canada"
