His wife's on twitter and she's more feisty than he is. Anything negative and she'll pounce. :D

Good article. Great title.

What can you say to an intelligent adult who continues a job that may cause long-term harm to his cognitive function? Don't do it; think of your family; set a better example -- whatever sane, cautionary reason you give, a guy like Parros will swat you away like you're a condescending guidance counsellor.

And he's got a point. Sports carry risks. George's risk is concussion damage, and he's made the decision to leverage his health against a paycheque. Good luck to him and the remaining few years of his career.

Also, it was interesting to learn that hockey goons have their own fraternity. Orr calling Parros to see if he was okay after the fall, the exchange between him and John Scott -- these guys are surprisingly civil violent gentlemen.

There's a few exceptions, but most heavyweight goons tend to be good guys off the ice (issues caused by brain damage and money trouble nonwithstanding). Parros is by all accounts an intelligent, decent guy, even if he's bad at hockey when he's not punching faces. Even a team cancer like Laraque is still an intelligent, idealistic guy. If anything it's the middleweights who compensate by missing a few screws who are actually violent people.

A lot of heavyweight goons are just guys who have always fought in hockey, because they were aware at their size it would be their one opportunity to make it to the next level.

And then there's guys like Patrick Kane who aren't physical on the ice, but that doesn't stop them from jumping cab drivers and the like.
