IMO For 7.5/year you'd ideally want a player to score at least 70 points, minimum. He has yet to reach the heights he did in NJ statistically. Sure there are worse deals but I don't think the deal has been that great for Minny.
At least Suter has remained an elite defensemen and was even robbed of the Norris in 2013
Sure, you'd "want" the player to score atleast 70 points. But he's paced around 68 points the first four years of the deal, got hurt, and came back to be a 60 point player.
No one is ever going to argue that it's a great deal. But for the the money committed, and some of the other deals we've seen on wingers his age when he signed it's hardly turned out garbage.
He's scored 188 goals in 506 games for Minnesota. That's a 30 goal per 82 game pace, for a team that over the two decades it's been in existence has struggled to score goals most of the time, that's worth the money. No one cares about the assists with Parise. He's paid to take abuse in front of the net, and clean up the garbage around the crease. Something he's done exceedingly well.
