Feel guilty saying yes to this.

Feel with no retention, FLA may need to add a 2020/2021 2nd and with some retention, it would be a 3rd + 3rd/4th/mid level prospect type deal

If Habs offer a 3rd in 2020, would Panthers's do their 1st in 2020 and Reimer, no retention ?

I think the better draft pick suggestion was a simple 4th plus Reimer for a 7th. I'm not sure who would want/need him even at that price, however.

Reimer (cap dump obviously) and Matheson to the Habs would be interesting.

What would be the asking price from the Panthers?

need a d man coming back.
matheson, reimer 2020 and 2nd rounder for petry

maybe drydan hunt instead of 2nd rounder, if MTL wants someone with nhl experience

Hoffman is worth more than that. He should be worth a first rounder on his own at the deadline.

Well I didn't specify what the Canes would be trading back. I'm not suggesting it would be like the Marleau situation where there is no value coming back. Canes have lots of picks and prospects to deal if Florida doesn't want salary back to make room for Bob and Bread.

Kessel
Schultz @ 50%

Total 9.5m

For

Hoffman
Reimer
Tippett
2020 2nd

Total 9.5m

Panthers don’t gain/lose any cap space but they fill other needs on the roster and use their whole 20m to sign Panarin and Bob.

Pittsburgh can buy out Reimer or bury him in the minors. We’d use that 2nd plus a roster player to trade for a guy like Colin Miller, Vatanen, or Faulk. Plenty of available RHD’s

Following a little bit of the Armia trade template, how about this:

FLO:
FLO's very own 2020 5th rd pick

MTL:
Reimer, James
FLO 2020 2nd rd pick
WPG 2021 7th rd pick

Thoughts?

Montreal likely keeps him on the roster for a year as a backup, and then either trade him (retained) later on or buys him out at the end of the 2020 season.

If the Panthers miss out on Panarin, do you see them having interest in Kessel?

Huberdeau-Barkov-Dadonov
Hoffman-Trocheck-Kessel

Is still a really dangerous top 6

I don’t think so tbh. I think they’re hoping Tippett can be their Kessel type sniper. Whether he will or not is another story.

Plus, Hoffman would’ve been gone in the deal for Kessel.

I'm fine with that
