What kind of a prospect is Evan Cowley? Career AHLer or does he have more potential? Just stats-watching, he has excellent numbers as a backup in Denver; wish he had an opportunity to play more games.

Definitely has more potential. Montembeault and Wilcox in the AHL will probably push him to the ECHL, but not because he's bad, just those two are better.

Would like to see Cowley get as many games as possible in his first year since he didn't play much at Denver, unfortunately. Tanner Jaillet was a recruit of Montgomery while Cowley was recruited by the old Denver head coach (acc. to a poster on here a couple months ago, don't remember their name).

Yeah, he and Jaillet seemed to be equals early on when their split was closer to 50-50 and then Jaillet ended up just taking over as primary starter. Makes sense if he was Monty's guy. Hope he can make some noise in the ECHL and get a shot at some point

Realize this is an old post and it's probably a moot point. But finally got a chance to play full-time — in Denmark — after spending time playing in Poland in 2018-19.

He's still only 24-years-old. Likely no longer an NHL prospect but it will be interesting to see where things go from this year.

Lol completely forgot about him. Weren't his numbers in college really good? I can't remember how much he actually played, but they were promising IIRC.

Cowley was drafted out of the NAHL before going to Denver. Most games he played was his sophomore year when he played 20 games splitting time with Tanner Jaillet. Jaillet pretty much took over as a workhorse after that - limiting his starts.

Played 33 games between the ECHL and AHL in his only full pro season in North America in 2017-18 and played in Poland the following year.

Danish league isn't that good though, it's maybe the 5th or 6th best league in Europe.

We'll see if Cowley can jump to one of the better leagues, DEL (Germany) would be a logical step forward.

I think Cowley was that goalie in camp that looked damn good then never heard from or seen again...
