I love how Burrows comes over here and all of a sudden he's a legit second liner.

Not saying Ryan is much better on the 2nd line, but when did Alex revert to 2010 form?

Who is saying that?

Looks like they're just giving him a shot. Hard to say that makes him a "Legit second liner"

There's a good number of people slotting him on the top-6 in place of Bobby Ryan, even once he's back.

So yeah, people are saying that.

Give the turntable a tap bud, your needle is stuck. The evaluation will be done very quickly to determine where he fits and who he compliments.

Was he playing top-6 on a mediocre Canucks team?

Doesn't matter. Different team, different structure and dynamics.

He was playing on Horvat's wing, who is touted as Vancouver's best player of the season.

I like the way Burrows plays, he doesn't take a shift off, he plays hard at both ends of the ice, he is a pain in the arse in front of the net & he plays a good defensive game too. His addition should allow GB to create three scoring lines once Ryan returns & maybe they should play him with Ryan to snap him into playing better. I also like the addition of Stalberg who reminds me a lot of Michalek.

I know it's just one game, but boy this post looks silly now.

Smith Turris Ryan (60*)
Hoffman Brassard Burrows (55*)
Dzingel Pageau Stone (50*)
Pyatt White Stalberg (20*)

3 even scoring lines and a checking line come playoff time.

Notes:

* Total estimated regular season goals

- Each of the top 3 lines would be stacked with a 20 goal scorer, and a defensive conscience
- Hoffman Brassard Burrows, the QMJHL line (Hoffman and Burrows already mesh well)
- Smith and Turris together can help each other take strong side faceoffs
- Pageau and Stone have the proven ability to go point a game together
- White can't possibly be a worse 4th line skater than Kelly, right?

Flip Stone and Ryan and you have something. Stone's skills are top 6 easy.

Stone is like Alfredsson was. Whatever line he's on is our first line.

Those three lines were written in order of the expected goal output by seasons end, not in terms of actual 1st to 3rd lines. I like putting Stone where he is, and by all means his line in my mockup could eat up the most ice time.

Plus anyone playing with Pageau is going to have fun.

I don't think we have the talent to necessarily overload a line and win against focused opposition (e.g. the Pizza Line).

What we do have is some offensive depth, speed and grit.

It's more of a Buffalo-style team.

Obviously you have to move things around if things are stale but for the most part, I agree with trying for a top 9 rather than a top 6.

Dzingel - Brassard - Ryan
Stalberg - Smith - Stone
Pyatt - Pageau - Wingels
- Kelly/Neil

Methot - Karlsson

I'd like to see that line

Overall a good lineup.

I think Burrows will need to be with brassard. Unless brassard has caught fire now and can play with anyone.

I guess you could do a Dzingel - Turris - Ryan & Hoffman - Brassard - Burrows lines. It's all about spreading out the scoring as well as the gritty defensive play per line which is easier said than done.

What's the deal with the injuries?
Any updates for stone, Ryan, Turris?

Is it fingers for all of them?

Burrows and Hoffman had instant chemistry

but turris not being able to take faceoffs kinda messed up the lineup as Smith was put on his line.

Ryan has a broken finger.

Stone has a upper body injury.

Turris has a messed up finger as well.

Out of the 3, i would bet that Turris would be able to play if need be.

But we are on a 5 game winning streak and can afford to keep on resting him,
