Hey guys,

I saw that shocking retirement post and became intrigued. I remember that season wondering why Zigmund Palffy retired, he was a point-per-game player at the time. I had always heard it had something to do with Crosby...but that was also the time went Crosby hate was especially high. What were the reasons? Sid related or otherwise. I know they were a basement team.. maybe he was negated on a trade request?

Apologies if this has been a thread before I just wanted to hear a discussion.

Thanks!

Shoulder injury. He wouldn't play another professional match until 2007/08. Sid was not really hated. Just chewed out for acting like a spoiled brat and diving. I doubt it was enough to put Palffy out of pro hockey for nearly two years.

It was injury I believe. To bad guy had a pretty good career. One of the better goal scorers during the Dead Puck Era.

yeah it was a lingering shoulder injury. nothing to do with crosby

its a shame he had to play during the DPE. guy would have been so much fun to watch in the "new" NHL
