I'd struggle to think the Packers did not counsel with Aaron Rodgers on this.

Honestly it's an interesting time for a team in their position. You could argue it's time to start thinking about post Rodgers life. Isn;'t he like 34? Hes been banged up a lot recently. He wasn't that amazing this season. How many years does he really have left?

The Packers probably need at least one more solid draft class and maybe two to repair the team. Thompson kept drafting to fix the defense but he kept drafting busts which forced him to use the next draft on replacements leaving several positions lacking in talent.
