I think a lot of people came into the season with the notion that the Central was significantly better than the Pacific. And they do boast 3 of the 4 best teams in the Conference.

But if the playoffs started today, on points, 5 Pacific teams would be in and Gary would be pretty happy with the matchups: Nashville-Vegas, Winnipeg-Colorado, Calgary-Edmonton, Anaheim-San Jose. Now granted Dallas with games in hand would pass Vegas, but Knights are hot, and Stastny is about to join them. Hitchcock is getting results too, so the bottom 2 teams in the playoff race are trending up. San Jose has been streaky. Anaheim is rolling along, in spite of injuries. And well, Calgary, the cardiac kids are tops in the West. I'm not discounting Minnesota or Dallas, but it definitely seems possible that the Pacific could have 5 teams in the playoffs.

The Kings are bad, yes, but every other team is doing respectable even Vancouver and Arizona who are on the rise. The division is far better than people from the East realize.

Maybe Mcllelan really was holding them back. There are new coach bounces sometimes though. If Oil make playoffs that is a big turnaround.

4 of the top 5 Pacific teams have a record of either 7-2-1 or 8-2-0 in their last 10. Pretty amazing

Two of the most exciting offensive defencemen in the league (Burns + Karlsson), the leagues best player (McDavid), the league's best rookie (Petterson), one of the league's more entertaining players in Thachuk.

Pacific always catches flak because nobody from the east actually watches the games.
Plus, you know, this undrafted Norris contender named Mark Giordano who's outplaying both of those guys this year.

Been telling yall, the Pacific was completely buried in road games early on this season. That was dragging their performance down.
