This is from a Q&A segment on Yahoo Sports:

Yahoo! Sports Q&A – The NHL
Dan -
Gary Bettman went ahead and made false promises and commitments and ruined the game. Do you think any agreement will be reached before the season entirely ends, or will this truly be the end of the sport for a temporary undetermined time?
John O'Neill
Philadelphia, Pa.

Yahoo! Sports' national columnist Dan Wetzel replies: I am optimistic they will get it done in January. The owners will realize there is little demand or interest in their teams and grow concerned their franchises are losing value. The players, by then, will be sick of playing Mr. Mom and willing to sign off on just about anything reasonable.

Its Dan Wetzel's speculation.... not actually and owner saying he's afraid of losing franchise value

yes.. the franchises will lose value because of this lockout... but if the game isn't fixed you will have franchises folding
