Owen Sound Attack 2019-20 Season Thread (Part 2)

As per Greg Cowan's tweets this morning the Attack have decided to sent both Machacek and Samanski home to their respective countries.

While the OHL team governors will be having a teleconference to determine further steps for when/if the season resumes. Although it would be more of a likelihood that this is a measure that will lead to the canceling not postponing the remaining portion of the season and playoffs for 2020. The only thing that would be of certainty at this point would be the ability to hold the online priority selection process still beyond that any future fate of the CHL is and will continue to be in limbo like the rest of the world right now.

2020 OHL Priority Selection will proceed on April 4th.

Attack will draft 10th.

Will be an interesting to see what the draft holds management has done a good job in the past while in filling in gaps in key draft rounds with 8 picks in the first 100 selections with 3 of them being in the first 50.

Plus/minus any minor tweaking the Attack Management staff will have so options come draft day with 18 selections spread across all 15 rounds.
1-(10), 2-(37), 3-(50), 3-(58), 3-(60), 4-(80), 5-(86), 5-(90), 6-(110), 6-(111), 8-(150), 8-(151), 10-(188), 11-(211), 12-(231), 13-(251), 14-(271), 15-(291), to pick from in the draft based off current standings position and deals.

Hopefully there will be some good pieces throughout the whole draft but more key ones in rounds 1-5 for the Attack to snag.

Hoping the high volume approach works again for the team, as I initially gave the management team a lot of flack for how quickly we lost a draft pick in Artem Shlaine, only to have the the other four top picks all make the team and contribute all season. This team needs strong back to back drafts like we ha with the 98 and 99 age groups in order to get back to contending down the road.

Given how many players made the team from the 03 draft, and how many 2000's we're going to have to cut to get in the overage limit, there's seemingly a lot of opportunity for these upcoming draft picks to make the team next season. Maymeb 1-2 more 03 draft picks, or a free agent or two, can latch onto the team, but there's definitely spots for underage players.

So glad the draft is done online and we get to sink our teeth into something during this crazy time.

This team really has some promising players in the system right now. Goure, Burroughs, Sedley, Lawrence were all good pickups out of the 03 class.

If the management can use some of those key picks in the early rounds to target some of the top 40 prospects then this team will look very promising moving forward. Opportunity has always been something this team has prided itself on and I look forward to seeing what the draft holds this year. This team is on the verge of being a real tough contender in a season or two if everything shakes out in the best opportune way.

Inevitable that this was on it's way. Although the disappointment now is a short term emotion in the grand scheme of things.

Safety of all North American's is something that is of concern. Now we play the waiting game in hopes that the league will return next season.

As far as knowledge goes it would likely be safe to say the the team will not be hosting any draft day event but I can however see the whole OHL going forward with the Priority Selection process as there will be no reason not to complete the draft online via the league site as they due annually but until the situation comes at a conclusion the season moving forward will definitely be in limbo at this time.

All of us can agree that all 3 OA's were some of the team's best working class players. Sometimes we forget how hard that OA's play in this league and how much effort and dedication they take on and off the ice. Matty, Matt and Brady were class acts and it's disappointing that their final years were cut short but that's how the cards fell this years under the circumstances.

i have been missing hockey at the bayshore. can't blame the ohl for cancelling the season. stay safe everyone and hopefully we will see some more great hockey in the fall.
