He just finished his best week for the Attack. 3 pts last night, and took a puck off the head to boot. I think we will see him thrive with the new coach .

His ppg are up and faceoff % almost 60 %.

So far , he's been the jewel of the trade .
Wooley getting lots of ice on the top d pairing, Poirier contributing as well.

All of the Storm guys seem to be fitting in really well. Attack have gone from a one line team to a more balance unit. Wooley is going to be a beast.

Have to agree. Wasn't sure at the beginning, but with the coaching change, the boys are fitting right in and helping the team get some much needed points. Next year should be a good one.

Team record since the Jan. 9th trade with Guelph...

    2-6 under Gill.
3-3 under Letang (including 3-1 in the last 4 games).

Looks like the team is trending in the right direction.

Well, didn't make it to the game but did watch on TV. Boys had a rough start but forged ahead and played a great game in 2nd & 3rd periods. Nice to see Dudas get a goal and the OT winner. On to the weekend road trip. Will be a fun trip with the Attack Fan Club bus trip down to Michigan to watch the boys. They just need to keep to their game plan. I don't think any of the weekend games will be easy, but they are winnable.

Shaky start tonight team really would want the that early goal back but good to see the guys put the effort in to getting the push back and the extra point.

Wins don't have to be picture perfect they just have to be hard work and making the most of the chances and tonight's game was a good example of what a bit of puck luck and opportunities at the right times can put you over the top in close games in this league.

Tonight was one of those games for the guys where it wasn't a textbook gameplan type W but hardwork and some bounces the right way at the right times.

Next up a 3 in 4 day stint on the road in Saginaw, Flint and Windsor over the weekend, and fan support to boost confidence should help the guys in 3 very critical matchups.

Why wasn't Woolley in the lineup last night? Did he get a 1 game suspension for the fight?

Edit from Suntimes - "Mark Woolley missed the game with an illness. Bryce Caruk is back with the team and is getting up to game speed before making an eventual return to the lineup"

Good come back win from the boys after a poor start.

According to Greg Cowan from the Sun Times MW was sick no more information was given beyond that so would have to think minor illness and would expect him to be in the lineup on the road trip this weekend

Wooley must be close, as he skated in the warmup last night

You're right, Alan said after the game that with seven defencemen on the roster it doesn't make sense to play someone who is at 75-80 per cent. I expect he'll be back in the lineup this weekend.

Is it just me, or is Attack hockey pretty entertaining right now?

    It's just you.

Kidding, these kids are playing with enthusiasm. I suspect with so many young guys they are all learning together, and the beirarchy
    consists of one level .

Meaning everyone pulls for each other, no favorites.

The inexplicable road record continued for the Attack in Flint.

After jumping to 1-0, and 2-0 leads early in the game, the team spent most of the rest of the game gifting pucks to the Firebirds at awkward moments.

Despite being basement dwellers, the Firebirds have assembled a collection of goal scorers, who wittled away at the lead, tying in the third, and in OT, winning the opening faceoff, and on their first possession, rushing down the left wall and neatly depositing their first chance past a sprawling Guzda.

Agreed Millpond, the road record has been inexplicable and its continuing on. Even when we had Suzuki, Durzi, et al., the team still struggled on the road.

With a 2-0 lead against Flint, that's a lead you have to hold, even if it's on the road.

Looks like their first goal came from a bad Attack line change (which gave Flint a 3-on-2 rush), second goal was off a defensive zone giveaway, and the OT goal we had a player who fell which gave their puck carrier a clear path to the net and he made no mistake.

Despite getting outshot, it sounds like the Attack had their fair share of scoring chances. There's got to be more finish there for sure.

Have to give Flint credit for the win. They were able to stop the bleeding down 2-0, they didn't give up, Vella held them in there when needed, and they took advantage of their opportunities (i.e., Attack miscues) to come back and win 3-2.

Maybe the boys were dazzled by all those cool looking fans wearing Tropics sunglasses.

Without making excuses, the ice sheet may have been the worst I've seen all year.
LOTS of players on both sides simply falling for apparently no reason .

We'll there's another thing. We quit counting shots.
To end the first, both teams apparently registered five shots, according to the announcer, and shot clocks .

Moments after the 2nd started, Flint somehow had jumped to 11.

We watched the Attack take two shots on Vella, saw the puck and heard it hit his stick, yet no shots were recorded.

After the weekend, looking ahead at the remaining 12 games, I think the team will win another 3 to 4 games, get their 30 wins, and end in 14 to 16, ensuring a playoff seeding, and an elite 1st round pick .

I'm rooting for a power forward, to build this young team around .

Just curious, what exactly is a 'gold package'?
    Who qualifies for it?

Has anyone ever really seen this ?

    found this on the web
    Journey To Excel

On another note; boys play much improved in Windsor. However, energy better spent trying to get goals instead of killing 7 penalties. Road games continue to plague this team

    I found this.....

Players taken in the first round will almost certainly crack their team’s roster and be entitled to the OHL’s “gold package.”
The gold package consists of the best possible contract perks. In other words, players who receive the gold package are entitled to all four years of their post-secondary education at a Canadian institution paid for as soon as they play their first game. And that includes residence. Sadly, the reality is that the majority of players drafted won’t crack an OHL roster in their first year.

Ok, thx . I wonder if the gold package is offered at the team's descretion, for example do they decide how many players they offer, must they offer them to top draft picks, is there descrepancies between teams as to how many they offer ?

I'm not sure but I think 1sr round picks get 1 and team is allowed to have a Max amount of 7 or 8 at any one time.

Yes they played better, but the penalties were out of hand, Reffing didn't help much either. I like how # 11 plays and his work ethic, but he sure takes some untimely penalties. Our stick to stick passes need alot of work and the back passes to no one creates alot of turn overs. Just my opinion
