Any less ideal than keeping a bad GM and a bad coach and irreparably pissing off star players in the process?
I don't know...depends on the situation I guess.

Point is, firing people doesn't always solve things, in fact, it rarely does.

The Flyers aren't in better shape now than they were 2hrs ago, same team, same needs, same challenges.

Never heard of a sophomore slump??
Of course - do I attach any legitimacy to it?

Not one bit.

Firing Therrien sure helped the Penguins. Firing Burke helped the Leafs. Firing outright bad GMs and bad coaches is always preferable to retaining them.

Of course they aren't better now, they just fired the bad GM. And Hextall is objectively better than Bergevin.

Thankfully he's doing really well defensively.

Thankfully for who? lol

As for the rest of your post...

he's performing well defensively in a very sheltered role

The bigger question you should be asking yourself is why his role hasn't expanded this year? Especially with Hedman hurt, he's still not a player his coach has much trust in.

Which again, I understand is normal for a 20yr old player...

But why are you trying to prop him up to much??

Thankfully for his team. Why are YOU obsessed with him? He's not a Habs player. Who cares?

Maybe with Schmaltz at center, Galchy could concentrate on his scoring on a wing ?

I thinks thats what will happen and IMO that is the role he should be playing. Never understood the obsession with AG at centre, seems pretty clear to me his tool kit isn’t suited for modern NHL C. And yes, I know he had a good run at C but I can’t envision a top 6 with such slow feet.

Hold up...you're "thankful" he's doing well defensively for another team.

And I'M the one obsessed with him?

Ok I guess lol
I'm thankful the league has a star player developing on a good track, yes. I like good hockey players. I especially like puck-moving d-men.

Imagine after EVERYTHING that was said after the Galchenyuk/Domi trade this summer was done...

That Max Domi ends up sticking @ C and Galchenyuk ends up moving to wing...

Can't believe Philly fired their GM. I thought that the Flyers have been an excellent team for drafting prospects.

As long as they're not on the team you cheer for I suppose (assuming you're a Habs fan here).

To each his own I guess...

Thats all you took from my post? I also mentioned taking tough assignments, draws in the d zone and mentioned how hard it would be to integrate a one dimensional player into the lineup.

Tochett seems to agree, AG gas played 13 mins twice in the last 5 games. Bottom 6 type minutes because it is hard to get a top 6 C minutes if he can’t take tough assignments and doesn’t kill penalties.

You may have missed it but the league is changing, most players are being asked to play both ends of the ice. There are very few specialist type player, in a league where most teams play a top 9 and roll 4 lines guys that can’t play in all situations are a hinderance.
You hit the nail on the head.
He’s a specialist on the PP and in OT
5 vs 5 Galchenyuk is a horrible player
His stats don’t lie

It’s 3 coaches now that don’t see Galchenyuk as a centre. I guess they’re all stupid and Galchenyuk fans know better than them
Galchenyuk is a winger. He doesn’t have the tools to be a Centre in this league

Sergachev is a star?? Really?? Wow. Let’s just throw out titles like star on player who’s proven very little so far

Other teams fire GMs whenever it suits them, in Montreal the fans and media make every excuse for why a total failure of a GM shouldn't be fired yesterday.

It's midway through a season, you can't fire a coach now!

It's only been six years, you can't fire the GM!

But the team is on a hot streak, you can't fire him!!
I'm not sure who is available that will do a better job.

Really? Kane, Malkin, Kuz, Galchenyuk, etc? Theres forward that dont take the tough assignements literally everywhere in the league.

Do you even know what we are discussing? The guys above play almost all situations and are significantly better players, and all of them can skate. AG isn’t in the same league.

You are actually making my point. A guy like Kuz or Kane can play up to 23 mins a game, AG plays as little as 13. He is a tough player to integrate into your lineup without creating issues with match ups.

Lol, you said he was a tough player to include in matchups because he doesn't play PK and can't be trusted defensively. Malkin has been heavily sheltered for ten years now, still the 2nd best player in the league over that span.

I was a big Galchenyuk supporter. Still am as I think he was dinked around and that hurt his development badly. But I never trashed Domi. I didn’t think we got enough in the trade but my gut told me even if Bergevin was off by a bit, it would still end up evening out. Domi’s started way hotter then anyone can anticipate, but I’m generally curious to see how this trade looks a few years down the line.

you know, we have Domi and Drouin who are playing in our top6.. with the most offensive starts.. and they also never play defense.

But who am I to say such things, right!?
