Too bad all I read on the Domi threads are how Galchenyuk is a no IQ, sloth, lazy, character issued bum who has a bad shot, can't pass and kills every chance. Domi has been better than I thought, but the hate on Galchenyuk on our board is insane. Too early to say who won and who lost.
They were quick to call the trade a win, too.

Anyone who wasn't blinded by preconceptions and Bergevin love knows Chucky has a ton of skill and would quite likely find a new environment beneficial to his game.

So far so good for him.

Meh. Gave up the goalscoring C for the playmaking W.

Galchenyuk isn't the big time goal scorer people claim. Everyone says he's a '30 goal scorer' and many for a while said Gallagher wasn't even though he hit 31. Hell, some still say it.

Gallagher has more GPG than Galchenyuk still to this day and a bigger career high. Galchenyuk is a much more rounded offensive talent than Domi IMO but Galchenyuk isn't a big time scorer.

At this point if Domi scores 15-20 and Galchenyuk scores 20-25 it's not really goalscorer vs playmaker.

When you consider ice time and linemates, Gallagher easily had the edge which is a huge reason. The time Galchenyuk played with the best players he scored 30, went PPG or near it, got injured and Julien never gave him a fair shot again.

Please. Galchenyuk got better zone starts too. Gallagher wasn't exactly the perimeter player of his line cashing in easy goals. He worked on every line he played. Gallagher is doing just fine without elite talent by his side today. He creates a lot himself through his hard work.

Just like the Weber deal. I remember when he was 3rd in the league in October. Anyways, I'm not here to compare the trade, we didn't give up Galchenyuk for a player 4 years older. It's just too early to say that Domi is a stud while Galchenyuk is a bum.
Meh. Id rather swap Galchenyuk for a 4 years older goalscoring center than flip him for a slightly younger playmaking winger.

Subban Weber was fine, both are still number one Ds, no matter how much people want Weber to suck.

Drouin and Domi will never transform into a center or a defenseman.

I just think that if they stuck with what worked regarding Galchenyuk, he'd easily be ahead.

Domi has shown good signs at center even if early. Although I do agree that Galchenyuks resume at center has been better.

Speaking of Gallagher, I thought I'd share this gem, which is quite amusing now but really wasn't at the time.

I expected Karlsson to be a lot better so far. If he doesn't resign, then the deal isnt as bad.

the whole team doesn't go through him anymore, his baby just died, his wife was pretty badly bullied online by a teammate's wife, and he clearly loved playing in ottawa.

not an easy situation at the moment, im sure hell get it going, not worried about him at all

A popular view on this site has been that Galchenyuk is a lazy, no vision, slow-skating, defensively-inept, bad at faceoffs, not-effective-at-centre power play specialist whose only legitimate skill is his wrist shot.

It's too early to say if they're right or wrong. We'll see.
