8th overall straight up for Colin White would be a fair offer.

I doubt Ottawa does that but as EDM fan I would make that trade.

Russell, Benning, Gagner and Sekera
Benning you can trade
Russel needs to go but wont agree to go to ottawa
Sekera makes alot but hes good and helps our team keeping him

Gagner there keeping unless the really are in a cap crunch

The pecking order is lucic, russel, manning first then we go from their after

Yeah, I’d take one or two of those guys if it helps us move up to 8.
Were not trade those guys to drop down, we can flip them without doing that

Were keeping reggie and gagner

Benning will be easy to trade might be able to get a 3rd or bump our 3rd pick into the second

Russel there will be teams that will inquire and he'll be moved

The deal i think

Edm
19 overall
$500k AAV RETENTION LUCIC

Ottawa
8th overall
$2.5 AAV RETENTION LUCIC for 4 years

3rd team
Milan lucic at $3.0 AAV
2nd round pick from ottawa
Matt benning or 3rd round pick from edmonton
(Lucic has to agree to waive NMC IN two years, and plays for seattle in their first year)

Lucic plays for 3rd team for a couple of seasons and leaves for seattle, with how they playoffs played out some east teams will be interested if its a $3.0 AAV and will be there for a short time

Ottawa only give up a second round pick and move up 11 spots and

add cap which they need to do anyway

As for the real money part i know Eugene Melnyk is cheap but there going to be the lowest spending team in the league, that extra wont be to big of a deal

If Columbus doesn't beat Toronto/Boston in the next round and ends up in the 19th spot:

Ottawa: 2019 1st (19th), Florida's 2nd (44th), Filip Chaplik or Nick Paul

Arizona, Florida or Phoenix: 2019 1st (14th, 13th, 12th)

Ottawa drafts Newhook

Does that sound like a reasonable compensation to move up to 12th, 13th or 14th?

In 2021 buffalo trade 21 and 42 to Calgary for 14

This is putrid for Ottawa

Ottawa can trade pick at 19 and Florida pick and get to around 11-23.

You want them to take 2 cap dumps to go to 8...

To get rid of Lucic you need to retain 50% just yo start.

Two cap dumps?

It the $2.5 AAV for 4 years that goes to ottawa

Would rather just package the entire Lucic cap with the 8th pick

Depends on the price. We aren’t moving Chabot, Tkachuk or Brannstrom though.

but realistically then the idea of moving up is a farceful wish.

I don't think it takes a franchise level building block (Chabot, Tkachuk or Brannstrom) to move up 5 to 7 slots in the draft. It would if you were moving from let's say the 6/7th to 1st overall, but not moves more in the middle of the draft.

Even if it did, then I really doubt Ottawa would move the pieces being discussed (Chabot, Tkachuk or Brannstrom). That's probably the most farcical part.

you do make a valid point, however in order to move up, it is a sellers market to move up. as hard as it appears those slot selection, lack of a better word to describe it, appears to be expensive.

ref the bold, damn i was having a mental block in order to spell that stupid word. thanks for the classy way of showing me.

Vegas have a cap of $82 million next year and still have to sign William Karlsson. They also have Clarkson they could move at $5 million for 19/20, to free up cap space.

If Vegas 1st is between 27 and 31, Ottawa takes Clarkson

If Vegas 1st is between 22 and 26, Ottawa takes Clarkson + gives Pittsburgh 3rd

Phoenix have a cap of $73 million next year and have to sign Crouse, Panik, Cousins. Phoenix may also look to UFA market this year to help get them into the playoffs. Hossa is on the books at $5.275 million for 19/20, 20/21.

Ottawa takes Hossa and 14OA Phoenix takes 19 OA

Not interested in moving up in the slightest, especially for substantial picks and/or prospects.

More than happy with where we are, we’ll end up top 5 next season anyway no doubt
