You realize that if the Sens sent over two buryable contracts it would be the exact same outcome for TB right? Trades like this would still be possible if players on LTIR weren't able to be traded.

I still chuckle that so many people incorrectly believe Tampa acquiring Gaborik and Nilsson helped their cap situation.

Right it kicked the can down the road. It just helped them get cap compliant for this season without having to give up a prospect or 1st round pick. They do lose a super star player for the season though, the real price paid here. A huge piece to their team and could be the difference to their season and whether they repeat or not. Its not easy to just jump right back into play in the playoffs and be a huge difference from the get go. Especially coming back from this injury and surgery rehabilitation. Far from ideal for tb.
