Watched him a few times in person for the Battalion, always thought he was an NHL player so glad to see this

Ottawa has solidified the bottom of their roster with hardnosed players who should help to keep opponents honest with their younger finesse players

Based on last week’s draft, that’s the ultimate plan too. Lots of grit, which will be challenging for teams the division once more players develop. I think the mix of skilled offence, grit, and defensive-minded players that Ottawa is going with could work out well. Glad to see Nick Paul get the extension. He’s been working hard for it.

Is Paul the longest tenured Senator?

Depends how you look at it.

Longest in terms of having played an NHL game with the Sens? Nick Paul
Longest in terms of having a permanent spot on the roster? probably Chabot

Good deal for both sides. Paul is big and mobile and plays a smart, simple game. He will fit well with how we are constructing our team and could still emerge to some extent. I think he will be on Seattle's shortlist.

And Hogberg has been in the Sens organization the longest (since the 2013 draft).
