What does this contract mean? Is Stone waiting to see if they can keep Karlsson long-term?

As I said.

Curious, eh?

We're using NHL network's fantasy predictions to evaluate talent now? Yikes.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have enjoyed scooping up Stone late in my fantasy leagues the past 2-3 years. Criminally underrated because it's Ottawa.

Thats a historically bad list.

Without getting into the fallacy of using fantasy rankings (From NHL.com nonetheless) to define a player that list criminally underrates Stone. Since becoming a full time NHL player Stone ranks 30th in points among all skaters, the idea that he would be ranked 129th in any ranking is hard to grasp.

Nah, it's a good list.

Point per game leaders last year:

16: Crosby: 1.09
17: Stone: 1.07
18: Ovi: 1.06

Is it because he was injured? He and Matthews played pretty much the same number of games and Matthews is 7th on the list.

If Stone makes it to UFA, If I were Winnipeg I would take a run at the hometown boy. He and Scheifele had instant chemistry at the Worlds. Absolutely one of the best world's tandems I can recall. Dominating on ice. This would mean losing Wheeler, but Stone is a very good player. And he would fit on the Jets like a glove.

And that list has 0 credibility when Hornqvist, Simmonds, Atkinson and others are ahead of Stone. And why the hell are you posting an projected NHL Fantasy list as reference to a players value? Makes no sense at all...

Holy **** this might top the cake for terrible arguments on these boards. Wow.

LOL. Where do you think "fantasy" rankings come from? Are they ranking the players based on their ability to cast spells? Or use invisibility cloaks? Or jump over tall buildings?

Or are they based on their PERFORMANCE from the previous years? Goals, assists, points, hits, blocked shots, faceoffs, PIMS, specialty team points.....

There is a REASON that McDavid, Ovechkin, Kucherov, Crosby, Malkin are the top 5 on the list. Because they are in real life, too!! A few of the rankings are slightly arguable, but overall........it's a good list.

:)

But again... its a Projected NHL Fantasy list used for PEOPLE MAKING FANTASY HOCKEY POOLS.... how many points are attributed to PIMS, hits etc... why are middle 6 forwards ahead of other noticeable players. I guess the projected prospect pool lists are always right too because its a list, right?

In a world where JVR and Kane are now worth 7 million, what is Stone worth then?

He's worth LESS.

Besides also having 55-60+ point seasons, JVR has hit 27, 29, 30 and 36 goals. Stone doesn't score as much as JVR. And yet JVR makes less. IE: Stone is overpaid.

E. Kane is WAY overpaid for what he's delivered.

And so is Stone.

Stone just posted a PPG season. That matters.

And yes, JVR scores more, but Stones defence is WAY better.

As a Flyers fan, I would take Stone for 5 years at 7.3 million over JVR for 5 years at 7 million....if both were LW. Stone is a much better player.

An article on the score says he is still open to signing a long term deal with the sens and CNN and FOX NEWS are both extremely biased towards liberal and conservatives

But stone plays WAY BETTER DEFENSE.

Last 4 years:

Stone 241 points in 284 games....91 goals
JVR 201 points in 285 games...106 goals

I would take the better player, better point getter, and the guy coming off a PPG season over the guy who gets 4 more goals a season.
