Makes sense for Ottawa, though. 4.55M cap hit for two years while they only pay 5M in salary. 1.5M in pure savings and more cap spent.

I thought this too but then I checked CapFriendly. Anisimov was paid a $2 million bonus by Chicago so he's only owed $2m salary by the Sens this year. Next year he's owed $1.5 million bonus and $1.5 million salary, so $5 million over the 2 years. Zach Smith is owed $3.25m in salary both years, so $6.5m total.
