Norwegian airline just laid off half its staff.

Wouldn’t be surprised if half the people reading this are unemployed within 2 months, myself included.

If this is an honest but misguided attempt to help, please stop. This kind of BS is not helpful.

It is helpful. It warns people of the potential realities heading our way. Preparing supplies at home is only one part of the equation. Preparing financially is equally important. As in, plan for Income streams to potentially disappear for a while.

If you’re lucky enough to not be affected, great. But you should be ready for worst possible outcomes. This is going to ripple through every single industry.

Omitting the truth is doing many a great disservice. I am offering the same advice here as I have to my friends, family and community over the past couple weeks.

S Korea is having some success with a medication they have found really helps treating this. Doctors will get better at finding ways to reduce the severity of infection.

The key is to hold off on contracting this virus for a few months. By then, they will likely know a lot more about it And have more effective treatment.

3 infected people went to a conference in Boston and got 70 people sick. They believe this is being contracted through breathing, more so than touch. Washing your hands won’t stop you from catching it.
it is the droplet. The problem with this conroavirus is that the virus can survive upto 9 days on the surface (table, door handle .....) if the items have not been sanitized, :help::help:

The USA Federal Reserve just released a stimulus package of 1 trillion USD, that is 300billion dollars more than the 2008 crisis.

We are entering a depression we probably have not seen for almost a hundred years. He's not wrong. Prepare yourselves and your loved ones for the economic shock that is incoming.

Get used to it. Awhile ago I went into a Sabres GDT and posted a genuinely encouraging comment on the state of their team and found my post deleted and an infraction in my inbox. I still can't like posts.

Did you get a message from an account called Troll Stomper? It's ridiculous. What the hell is going on HF?

Dude, @Hoghandler has been on the money so far, seeing how things are playing out. At this point I have no problem with anything he/she is saying.

I'm not trying to diminish how serious this is. Quite the opposite, actually, which is why I think his posts are harmful. This could be the biggest event of our lifetime and what I think is helpful is calm, practical advice. Not to revel in disaster porn. Anyways, looks like others disagree so I'll leave it at that.

Stay safe and be smart everyone .

I get that, I really do, and agree. I just dont think that is Hog's intention. Not too long ago I too thought a lot of folks, including Hog, were being over dramatic about all this. Funny what a difference a couple weeks or so makes.

Is that cause the Canucks Management will finally be fired?

He really hasn't, actually he was proven super wrong.

We will see a massive uptick on people getting Covid, however a large portion of this will be because it will be tested for. The mortality rate will not be 5% as he stated earlier.

As for the economics... yeah I think we are all going to be a little bit screwed... here is hoping the Government forgives all student debt!

"Coach potatoe" strategy. Don't try to time the markets. Course I know **** about market strategy. So yes, talk to MULTIPLE financial advisors (just like a doctor, ALWAYS get a 2nd opinion).

its not when you get in, its that you get in.

I am going to try to time a bottom over the next few months to chuck more money in though.

Yeah the economics and the fallout from the response to the virus is more what I was referring to. It's what changed my perspective personally, when people helped me shift my focus from the virus itself, which yes, people are overreacting to. I've realized that the economics as a result of the efforts everyone is now taking part in to avoid said virus is what is legitimately concerning, and I think that's what Hog was trying to highlight.

I dont know. I've been in and out of this thread.

Fair enough. We agree and what is most pressing, the economics.
