No they are a legit candidate for an expansion franchise if there is an ownership group in place.
there is no interest in expanding, the NBA CAN GO INTO Louisville through the G-League, 27 teams have done so and Portland is looking at Vancouver for a potential 28th team....

If someone from Louisville came to Adam Silver knocking on the door for an expansion franchise, Silver would absolutely listen at the very least. Guess what kinds of markets the NBA likes outside of the major ones, yeah, markets like Louisville.

you keep forgetting, the NBA JUST LIKE OTHER LEAGUES, HI, wants an ownership group in place and it is highly doubtful, Louisville has preference over a pro franchise, just as Kentucky would at Rupp Arena in Lexington.... that is something San Jose and Florida struggled with when pro hockey was tried in Kentucky, nevermind the involvement of USA Hockey in Lexington... wouldn't you want a pro franchise to have preferential date availability over two longstanding powers that are Louisville and Kentucky.... both collegiate programs aren't going to make it easy for any franchise in either arena, Show us a potential ownership group that would get preferred dates over the University of Louisville, and what NBA Franchise that's not already got a G-League franchise and IS INTERESTED..... Indiana is taken with Fort Wayne, so you're not getting any existing franchise to relocate TO Louisville.... WHO backs the G-League, HI, the NBA, and why has that league become popular that more NBA Teams are buying in or starting teams....

No I don't "keep forgetting" at all. I made it pretty clear actually if someone meaning either a potential majority owner or a group came to the forefront that Silver would listen to what they have to say.

I am not guaranteeing it's going to happen.

Tommy, do you **know** the Las Vegas market? (How locals, visitors will flock/avoid local pro teams?) Golden Knights made a lot of pundits look stupid not only with their play but their community impact.

Have you ever visited? Spent all your time on the Strip? So much more to see than that five miles of resorts/casinos/shopping.

I’ve been beyond The Strip many times and what LS (and BB) have said about Vegas is true.

I mentioned this in the Phoenix thread the other day but I wouldn’t count out the Suns moving to Vegas after 2022.

Eh Not so sure about that. Especially they'll be up against Seattle which have a current NBA minority owner involved (with the NHL group) that wants a NBA team as welll plus Tim Leiweke is involved with the arena and Mexico City has been tossed about too.

Said owner tired to move to Sac Kings to Seattle and got denied so I don't think so.

Plus Hansen wanted to build a new arena and be the full owner.

so the Mercury, Northern Arizona Suns and the NBA Team are projected in Vegas by 2022, how does that work TL.... THE Aces just got there from SA?

Aces could go to Glendale and play out of Glendale. Or Sarver could leave the Mercury in Phoenix to play in either location.

Phoenix is between a giant rock and a hard place over TSRA. Come 2022, Robert Sarver is going to activate the clause in his lease allowing an arbitrator to declare TSRA as substandard and let him out of the last five years of it.

There’s nobody in the Phoenix city council currently willing to pick up the banner former mayor Stanton was carrying around for building a new arena. Estimates are TSRA will need ~$420 million to renovate and that will be subject to a vote by city residents, who aren’t in a mood to spend that much on a pro team who’s owner is not well liked.... even by the fans.

He does have one other option which is the same the Coyotes have. And that the Salt River Puma Community.

They can sell them just as easily.

Don’t underestimate what a corporate entity will do. A WNBA franchise is small potatoes to these people. I used to work for MGMGrand in the late 80’s. They sold out to Bally’s only to come back one day after their non-competitive agreement expired to break ground on the current MGM property.

THE above is highly doubtful if they just acquired the franchise, TL.....WHY did Mandalay Bay become popular as an arena, once T-Mobile was built..... you have to remember why were the Knights needing/requiring a new arena as do the Raiders

I don’t know and don’t care as it’s not even remotely related to what we’re talking about. I pointed out a possible scenario based upon what facts are out there and wouldn’t be surprised if it came true.

Las Vegas would be an overcrowded sports market if the NBA went there. They should focus on Seattle first and foremost, and then look at Virginia Beach, Vancouver, or Montreal for the 32nd team.

Vancouver likely lands Portland's G-League team since the Blazers currently aren't represented in that league;

Montreal likely has the NBL of Canada and fighting the Canadiens for media space, as we've seen with other franchises;

VA Beach MAY be facing a challenge from Richmond if the redevelopment of the Coliseum in that city gets green-lighted

I agree with you, Seattle will be tops on the NBA's list once the Key arena reno is done. I do think Vancouver will be high on the list to get a team back.

Umm Have you not been paying attention to what's going on in Seattle. We are dealing with OVG that is going to spend 650 to redo key arena and make it into a 750k square foot arena. We have David Bonderman (minority owner of the Boston Celtics) involved who also wants to own the NBA team.

Hansen is no longer involved in the process and his arena deal is dead.
