Hi all...

Been somewhat wondering about the best brother tandem-trio-sextuor (and so on...) that played a professional sport. I don't know much about Basketball, so I hope someone's gonna help me on this one. I MIGHT wanna poll this thread someday, but I wanna get more... say, inspiration before. Please no Staal family, but hypothesis as where they would rank are welcome! Please no answers in the like of Wayne/Brent Gretzky and Billy/Cal Ripken, too.

For Hockey (NHL/WHA -- European Leagues welcome)
- Maurice/Henri Richard
- Bobby/Dennis Hull
- The Sutter Family (individually, they weren't to the level of aforementionned players, but they were 6)
- Pavel/Valeri Bure (okay, not quite balenced, but Valeri had a sustainable career, at the very least)


For American Football (NFL)
- Tiki/Ronde Barber
- Peyton/Eli Manning
- Shannon/Sterling Sharpe

For Baseball
- Roberto/Sandy Alomar
- Ramon/Pedro Martinez
- Phil/Joe Niekro
- Jim/Gaylord Perry
- Joe/Dominic DiMaggio

My take on the subject are the Sharpe brothers from the NFL. Shannon Sharpe is seen as the best Tight End to play the game, and Sterling Sharpe career was cut short by a dreadful neck injury in 1994. He made the Pro Bowl 5 times (only missed 1991 in the 1989-1994 span), could have been easily a Top-10 in Receptions and Receptions Yards. Plus, Sharpe played for a team whose QB's were merely average -- and you can't count 1993-4 Brett Favre as something else than an average QB.

Stastny's had 2 great brothers and one pretty decent one. Now the second generation of Stastny brothers looks like it will have at least 1 good NHLer. Not sure about Yan just yet though.

Three Conachers in the Hall of Fame, I believe they were brothers. Seldom mentioned, there are two Smith brothers in the Hall, I believe a third brother also played with the Ottawa Silver Seven.

Petteri Nummelin is living in his father Timo's shadow. Timo was a brilliant defenseman for the nationalteam, but not an offensive wizard. He also played for Finland's national team in football (suckers call it soccer)

Teppo Numminen had a brilliant mentor in his father, Kalevi Numminen.

The Koivus' father, Jukka is a respected coach.

Niklas Hagman is the son of one of the most exciting and creative finnish players of all time, Matti Hagman.

Sorry, there isn't a pairing at this point that deserves to be in the Top-10 for hockey... You can make a point for Saku/Mikko, but IMO, Mikko hasn't proved enough... Heck, Saku's brother would be Evgeni Malkin and he still wouldn't have proved enough.

So far, for Hockey, tossing aside the Pre-Richard brothers, the top would be something like...

Brotens (BTW, why Aaron Broten had such a short career? I just came up with a number like that : since it's not only hockey, but also about other sports, I'm somewhat trying to restrain the number of hockey brothers combo involved...

The Förster brothers Karl-Heinz and Bernd were elite defenders for Germany in football. Bernd a sweeper and Karl-Heinz a centre back

The Hoeneß brothers Uli and Diether were both very good strikers for Germany in foorball.

Walter brothers Fritz and Ottmar were both in the national team for Germany as well.
