2 years ago at the Phantoms Holiday Party, Oskar Lindblom played Bubble Hockey with my daughter, Aurora, who was 4 at the time. He was very nice to her while she tried to turn the knobs to hit the little puck. I don't think he initially knew that she was my kid. Really good guy.

All the best to @oskarlindblom we are all wishing you the best!

Awful news about @oskarlindblom. Some things are way more important than hockey. Just hoping Oskar makes a full recovery.

I know it means nothing, but actually came down from NY for Saturday’s game. He’s my second favorite player after coots. Absolutely heartbreaking.

DP, I appreciate your expert perspective and that of your colleague.

I am going to leave it at that because I am having trouble distancing my genuine deep sadness for a young man in the prime of his life from my small-child selfishness at the loss of his talent from this team.
Well said!

I come on the site to read some threads and the first line I read is this??? Noooo, nooo, nooooo, WHY?!!?

It’s the holiday season for a young professional with most of his career and life ahead. That just blows hardcore ****!!

Prayers for Oskar and his family and friends as well as the team.

Great stuff! The only type of replies I don’t love are the “You got this!” types. Not that they mean any ill-will. I just think it’s easy to say “you got this!” to someone who is staring in the face of an extremely difficult, scary, unknown & potentially fatal battle with a horrible disease. Not really what I’d want to hear.

I can’t lie, my initial reaction was selfish...”WTF! Why can’t this team catch a break!”
It lasted about a minute before reality set in.
Can’t imagine what the kid, his family and his teammates/friends are feeling.

Hopefully, this was caught early.

I feel the same. That’s what I would say to someone if they had to give a big presentation or speech. This is staring face to face with death. And not a quick one. I’ll be there for his first home game back even if I have to go solo.

The person I knew had the Ewing Sarcoma in his back. I would imagine that is pretty much the worst place to have it. I hope Lindblom’s is in an area with a better prognosis.

This is the only location mentioned, even in a general term:

HockeyBuzz.com - Bill Meltzer - Oskar Lindblom Diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma

The team subsequently confirmed that the cancerous tumor is located on Lindblom's upper body. His absence from the team's lineup on Wednesday in Colorado was categorized as an upper-body injury.

I’d like to see the Flyers use Oscar’s situation as the basis of a Flyers against cancer drive. Maybe we could buy Lindblom jerseys in support of Oscar with a portion of the cost going to the fight against cancer.

It will likely be tied into the Wives' Carnival. The Flyers' alumni is as strong as exists in hockey. It couldn't hurt for people to call or write the Flyers and mention Oskar and the charity carnival.

Flyers Wives Carnival

The Flyers Wives Carnival is the signature event of the season!
Scheduled for Sunday, February 23, 2020, this 43-year tradition, the Carnival creates a sense of excitement in the community every year, as fans of all ages meet their favorite Flyers players, coaches and beloved alumni while getting autographs and photos, playing games on-and-off the ice, and enjoying carnival-themed attractions throughout the day. Proceeds from the Flyers Wives Carnival benefit Flyers Charities.
