Was Dave Martinez the Cubs' bench coach as well? I know that he was on Maddon's staff in Chicago, but I don't remember his role.

If he was, that'd be pretty weird having both Beltway managers being former Cubs' bench coaches.

Yeah, I agree. I thought he was terrible last year.

i'm no dusty defender but they really screwed the pooch with that. bringing in a rookie manager to try with that team was a bad idea. four managers in six years.

100% agree.

The time to try an inexperienced manager is when you're rebuilding (my opinion). I'm not for hiring retreads, but if you're trying to win, that's a better option.
