Brooklyn
Hope we have time to do this justice.

First impressions:
  • Chicago has the more accomplished goaltender. Still, I'm really glad to have been able to settle for Dryden. When you started the run on Montreal goalies, I was sweating bullets I'd miss out on one Roy/Plante/Dryden.
  • I think Quenneville is a decisively more accomplished coach than Shero by now. I think Paul Coffey and Shero MAY be an awkward combination, but maybe not.
  • Brooklyn has a significant advantage in top 4 defensemen, because of the top 2
  1. Kelly (Brooklyn) > Coffey (Chicago)
  2. Chelios (Brooklyn) > Horton (Chicago)
  3. Howe (Brooklyn) = Vasiliev (Chicago). Difficult comparison, but I think most people have these two in the same tier
  4. Johnson (Brooklyn) = Conacher (Chicago). Another tough comparison, but I think they are close enough.
  • Chicago has the better bottom pairing at even strength, despite not being all that great at puck movement. Housley is basically a PP specialist here.
  • IMO, if Brooklyn wins this series, it will largely be because of a strong and well-balanced middle 6 - the 2nd and 3rd lines. My least favorite thing about this strong Chicago team is a middle 6 that I think is somewhat awkward.

Thanks for starting things off. I am extremely busy this week between work and personal life, but I will try my best to find time for some comments.

Allright let's wrap this thing up.We need a winner.

Send your vote to @Theokritos

Results Saturday if we have enough votes.

The draft was fun, the playoffs died a bit but no big deal.Congrats to the finalists.

Congrats TDMM.The draft was a whole lot of fun, the playoffs died, I take the blame on my shoulders since I was the unofficial ''commish''.

Still, you build a strong team and you deserved the title.Congrats to HT18 for reaching the finals, both teams were close.

Basically, I won the draft when I picked Phil Esposito and Bryan Hextall Sr with back to back picks in the middle of the draft. Special assist to picking up Ken Dryden, the last goaltender of his class available.

Still, with such a strong core, I would have lost if my depth fell apart, so think you to @The Macho Man and @Theokritos for taking my somewhat complicated lists when I was on vacation. If not for you, my third line would have stunk.

I kind of regretted the Housley pick, but I thought it would be unfair to other GMs who might have wanted him if I dropped him 5 rounds after I drafted him (which is when I realized all the best remaining partners for Housley were also Buffalo players).
