-Obv there's gonna be a job competition for 4C between a bunch of guys, just placing lindholm there for now.

-Not sure who our PK1 faceoff man will be now

-I like Carrick but I don't think he has what we need so I'm hoping the young D we have really fight for that 6D spot

- Marleau and Kapanen possibly swap or Kaps to 3RW, Brown to 4RW, Johnsson to 3LW

- 4LW/RW (Martin placeholder) should be a job comp. Could see Martin playing 1/3 of the games but I think we will see call ups fill the spot for most of the season

EDIT: I completely forgot about Grundstrom. Very good chance for the final wing spot on opening night

- Kadri Line (and 4th line fwiw) should play substantially less minutes this season while still being effective depth scoring/shutdown line. Hoping Tavares line will handle other team's top lines for some minutes, getting Matthews on the ice more often vs weaker lines

Honest thought, even though it’s never gonna happen - it’d make a lot of sense to go 11 forwards and 7 D. Reducing ice time for guys like Zaitsev and Hainsey would be huge, and if we needed to play someone like Marleau or Nylander at centre for a few shifts to give the 91 34 and 43 a break, it wouldn’t be hard.

Rest we can debate later in the summer.

I like the idea, but I'm not sure if the math works out. Even if the lines are out for 18 minutes each, that's still 6 minutes needed to cover. If there are 3 players that can be double shifted, they're playing 20 minutes a night.

I think they probably keep the Marleau - Kadri - Marner and Hyman - Matthews - Nylander lines together, at least to start the year.

That means that the best talent to play with JT is Johnsson and Kapanen. Leaving something like Leivo - Lindholm - Brown as our bottom line.

I thought everyone posting their "lineup with Tavares" in the 2019 projections thread was an absolute moron, crow has never tasted so good.

we need a top 9 forward with some grit. Maroon would be nice.

Or better yet, Trade for Nick Ritchie. Connor Brown for Ritchie?

Marleau. Tavares. Marner
Hyman. Matthews. Nylander
Johnsson. Kadri. Kapenen
Martin/Leivo. Lindholm. Brown

4th line just needs to take the occasional shift, move Brown up and down with Kapenen, Johnsson and Hyman depending on who is working out well. and PK time. Might even double shift Matthews and Tavares. Lindholm can take time once the score goes above 5-0

If Marner is a huge reason in JVR's goal scoring success, then it's wise to keep Tavares and Marner apart. Maximize their ability to make plays and inflate their line mates stats.
