Im not sure where your anger is coming from here but the last paragraph of your post is messed up.

My last paragraph isn't a wish on them, I don't hate Tampa Bay fans, it's just something I expect from Florida at this point, especially with all these restrictions being lifted now.

It's not a case of being nice.

It's a case of rooting for a Former Devil to find success when he was stuck with a moron for a head coach for so long, and then all of a sudden goes from that to 1 win from an NHL Player's ultimate goal.

I root for that sh-t.

Because what else is there to do?

We can only talk about Askarov and Palms so many times in the Devils thread before our eyes bleed.

Plus, Hockey will be OVER after tomorrow for awhile!

Better to be happy for one of our ex-players who did nothing but bust his ass as a Devil 'cause really...that's the closest we will get to a Stanley Cup anyway.

Unfortunately this team had and still has way more wrong with it than just John Hynes, who I couldn't stand either but like you said, we have beaten that topic to death as well.

Oh no question it's not JUST John Hynes but he was the "Head Of The Snake" issue with the team.

And I wished we completely dumped all evidence of that snake but unfortunately Ruff kept his second-in-command. (sigh)

It would be cool to see Pickles hold it up. He earned it.

Feel bad for Pavelski and Benn because I think a lot went right on this run. But hey, they've got fantastic young players. If Nill plays it right, they could be the next SJ. Always in the mix.

They have a good mix of youth and veteran leadership but a few of those vets are getting quite long in the tooth to the point where they are about to fall out. I would say their biggest concern is in goal. They paid a lot for Bishop but his history is injury riddled and at the worst times (just ask Tampa) and Dobby is 34/ a pending FA who will most likely get a 2+ year deal from a team desperate for goaltending.

He’s not in red and black anymore but when I see Coleman lineup for the opening faceoff of each game in the Stanley Cup finals I can’t help but get a big smile on my face. The guy is a blue collared bust your ass player that fought his way into the NHL by not giving up and I’ll gladly root for his success now and in the future because of how he played the game right for us.

Root for Pavelski, dude deserves a cup way more and it outweighs the trash team that Tampa is.

I would have been okay with him, too.

But only one team can win the cup and since it's looking like Tampa, I want Coleman to get it since they are now one win away.

He also parted on GOOD TERMS with the organization and us fans.

There was no Primadonna BS like Taylor Hall's, for example.

This is also why I root moreso for Coleman than I would for Pavelski.

Same. Coleman alone does not make me want Tampa to win the Cup. I really hate that team.

You can root for a player without rooting for a team, you know?

Should Tampa win tonight, the focus will be 100% on Coleman and only him.

And after seeing Coleman skate with the CUP, I would love to then see Hedman drop the CUP and thoroughly embarrass himself.

It’s the kind of goal that when it happens on one of our goalies (especially Schneider or Kinkaid when he was still here) it’s usually excused for a screen, or blamed on the defense or John Hynes. But when you see it scored on another team it’s pretty apparent that it’s a weak goal.
Did look like it went between the D man’s legs though and those shots are hard to pick up. We see a lot of goals scored like that - that leads me to think those aren’t softies. They are very tough shots to read evidently. Materializing out of nowhere and divorced from the wind up and ability to read the shot off the shooter’s stick. It has to be a pure reaction save with very little time to react, and then too coming as a change of pace and angle from what the goalie is looking for. Not sure I can fault Khubodin on it.

Not sure how you can say Hall was anything but a great Devil. The hand to ear thing was lame, but I’d hardly call that going out on bad terms. What I will always remember Hall for is winning MVP.

No one “deserves” to win the Cup anymore than anyone else. I still to this day can’t stand hearing about Ray Bourque.

How dare you besmirch Colorado Avalanche legend Raymond Bourque. After all those years with them he deserved to have his jersey retired.:sarcasm:

Oh Minnesota...

Eh, every team passed up on him (multiple times in most cases) so nobody really thought that much of him, even Tampa. Tampa liked him that much that they were trying to move up all throughout the 3rd but why not take him in the 2nd round then? Tampa took Tony DeAngelo, Domink Masin and the great Jonathan MacLeod before drafting Point, so they had all of them rated higher.

Quennville, Jacobs and Chatham for our wonderful drafting that year. Yikes.

What would we all say... Point is a top 2 or 3 pick in a 2014 redraft? Only one I see right off hand is Leon Draisaitl that would be above him.

Maybe Pasta, but it’s close.

I get that everybody passed on him multiple times, it just must be even more painful to have traded that pick down just one spot. It'd be kind of like us trading down for McLeod and then having Logan Brown turn into a star.

Plus, I like giving the Wild shit because they might be the most mediocre uninteresting franchise in the league.
