This has been a really low scoring series. I’d love to see one really big blowout in this series. Preferably Dallas blowing them up.

Vegas has no scoring. It's pathetic. Marchessault with 3 goals all playoffs. Pacioretty with 5 goals, Karlsson with 4. They've survived off very good goaltending and weaker opponents. A Dallas and Tampa finals is a nightmare scenario for the league.

Well it’s not over in the west, but Dallas is my pick for the cup. In a series against Tampa, I think they are as skilled (Benn, Radulov, Segin, even the aging Pavelski and Perry put them in the same skill class as Tampa), and they are by far the tougher and heavier team.

In a bolts - stars final, my guess is Dallas in 6 or even 5. I am simply not that impressed with Tampa. Oh they are plenty fancy against the Isles, but against a heavier opponent with skill and speed, they will fold.

Why is that a nightmare scenario for the league compared to the Isles and Vegas? Tampa is a smaller market than NY obviously but I assume the team is pretty popular and Dallas is a huge media market and Vegas is a tiny one.

NY is the obvious reason and nobody in Florida cares about the Lightning especially with the hype around the Buccaneers and college football starting. Vegas is more of a league thing I suppose.

and in general there’s an air of unreality about these bubble playoffs - without fans, in a neutral venue with those weird placards in the corners to disguise the absence of a crowd. It feels like Bladerunner somehow.

It’s been fun to follow but I doubt there’s any disaster for the league in any matchup, beyond the disaster of the whole situation. In relation to which this is uniformly a relative success.

in this strange unreal virtual world, all of these clubs are simply displaced markers in an entertainment industry. But keeping the sport and league alive through this is the point.

You'd be surprised how big of a hockey town Tampa is. They love the bolts down there. Not a huge market, but they have a solid fan base

Problem is that there are a ton of transplants so any game vs Chicago, Detroit, Boston, NY, etc are basically away games for Tampa

Bladerunner? The bubble playoffs feel austere but Bladerunner struck me as a decaying society with technology covered in layers of grime.

Does DeBoer still say tough building in his pressers? Is he saying tough building about being up in Edmonton?

Goals against review for Saturday’s game

Golden Knights vs Stars: 2 goals against Lehner, no chance on either. 1 goal against Khudobin and it’s stoppable.

So that’s 3 goals scored on goalies, 1 is stoppable. That’s 33% of the goals scored were stoppable. Combined save percentages were .943%.

Softy of the night is this Alec Martinez goal on Khudobin. It was a one timer but he probably should have had this.

I thought Tampa had the cup before Point went down. If Tampa doesn't have Point I think the Isles come back. Losing Point makes that entire team worse.
Despite being 1 game away from the finals Dallas has shown some flaws. Dallas looked really bad against Calgary until they lost their best player in Tkachuk, and looked pretty bad in games 5 and 6 last round. Vegas had the same problem last round and their forwards can't finish. Isles had trouble closing out last round too.
Funny we're at the final 4 yet I feel 3 of these teams haven't been amazing

Suffice it to say that Game 4 is pivotal as to how the rest of the series pans out.

If the Bolts find a way to win that Game, they're in good shape to taking the series.

If the Isles win, then it's a whole new series.

( @Nubmer6 , more of that hyperbole stuff. ;) )

I live 5 minutes from Barclay's. No one, and I mean no one here cares about the Islanders. The lightning are certainly more popular in Tampa.

The Isles' fanbase is not near Barclays :P

But Long Island probably cares more about the Jets' impending tire fire of a season than the Isles' playoff run.

I don't think the first two are as bad and Marchand is at least known for it. Kucherov gets a pass by the media but is every bit the piece of shit Marchand is.

I disagree with that entirely. Marchand is by far the worst. I agree with you that I shouldn't have included Marchand necessarily with the other two, but lest we forget Crosby actually chopped someone's finger off. He gets even more of a pass from, well, everyone.

Oh I know they're massively popular in the immediate Tampa region but as a whole, the state doesn't care about the Lightning and with the hype surrounding the Buccaneers this year and college football starting, the Bolts aren't the hot ticket at the moment outside of the immediate area.

The Islanders just play there, for now, that's not a good indicator of their fan base.

I can attest to the Lightning part. I live about an hour south of Tampa and while stores may have small Lightning sections, you would be hard pressed to find someone wearing one out and about. If I find a hockey fan down here, I feel like it’s a long lost brother... if I see someone wearing a Devils shirt, I practically run up and hug them
