This has been a fairly impressive game for DAL. They showed they are equal to COL for the most part although I think Khudobin was the big difference in the game.

Let me repeat what I said in the other thread that was closed :

If Grubauer is out for any extended period, the Avs are in trouble.

Plus, once again, the Avs are not used to facing a team that is actually A THREAT unlike the Yotes.

Makar just played 27:26 in a very physical matchup. This kid may be undersized but he can hang. Next closest D was 22 and change for the night.

What happened to Dallas since the pause that they don’t allow a zillion shots a night anymore?

Could it be that Roman Polak signed in Europe and didn’t come back for the restart?

The Avs like many teams built like them (Leafs,Lightning, 2010s Sharks, Past Dallas teams) are “glass canons”. They have loads of skill but end up lacking in the Playoffs. Thats why I love this draft. It seems more and more prospects play a 200ft game.

The Avs were 6-1-1 in the bubble before last night and made Arizona look they didn’t even belong in the league. I would pump the brakes with the “lacking in the playoffs” talk for a little bit. There’s a decent chance we see Tampa/Colorado in the finals.

The Tampa/Boston series is the East final to me (whoever wins this series plays for the Cup). The West will be minus the Nucks. I’ll say Colorado vs Knights with the Colorado winning and playing against Tampa if they get their starter back at some point.

Oh wow, so we agree

That's a little premature, maybe try Roman swipes.

Rip, there's the likelihood that the Avs go without their starter this entire series with Dallas.

And because of this, there's a real possibility of Dallas defeating them and knocking them out of the playoffs.

I think that injury to Grubauer is the End of The Paxton Road (hi, @My3Sons ) for them. :sarcasm:

Goals against review for Saturday’s game

Stars vs Avalanche: 3 goals against Khudobin, no chance on any. 3 goals against Grubauer, no chance on any. 2 goals against Francouz in relief, no chance on either.

So that’s 8 goals scored on goalies, 0 are stoppable. Might be the first time I’ve had a 0% stoppable goal rate, but there was only one game. The last goal on Francouz almost got a stoppable goal for a goalie giveaway, but I’ve determined that it was the Avs defenseman’s fault for not getting to it. He could have.

Combined save percentages were .869%.

No stoppable goals, so no softy of the night.

End of the Paxton Road . I had to look up if Tom Hanks starred in that.

Grub going down for the series would definitely give the Stars a huge 1 up for the rest of this series. I like the Avs everywhere else but in goal if he’s out.

The Avs have struggled in the playoffs for the past few years. Let’s not pretend otherwise. I predicted that Dallas would win this series even before the Avs’ loss.

It’s not like Dallas has been great in the playoffs either though they did lose a crusher to the Blues last year.

Who ended up being the Champions. I agree that Dallas and the AVs have similarities but AVS are constantly picked as a favorites or breakout candidates. It reminds me of the Sharks from the 2000s. They won their division a bunch and even had a president trophy but the playoffs were dicey. Long story short, ZERO cups for the Sharks.
