That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. The Maple Leafs basically print money, for them to severely hamper the already poor on ice product in order to save $5 million is preposterous.

First off I agree 100 percent, and no I don't think they'd do it (hence the -sarcasm emoticon)

There are some (interestingly on the Leaf boards) who don't want Rogers owning the team because (believe it not) they think, like the Jays, they will "cheapen out" on the Leafs (and do close to my scenario), hence my hypothetical (and IMO like you Highly improbable) idea.

The Leafs, as you say, are a licence to print money, and I realistically don't see a reason they'd do it

If Rogers bought MLSE what would that mean for HNIC and CBC?

Nothing really, the NHL negotiates the national deals. TSN would be out of luck for any locally broadcast games, although they could still take a crack at national games too.
