Post-Game Talk: Only took a decade but we did it! Panthers win 5-4 in Minnesota. Yandle has himself a night, 1 g,4pt

5 straight wins in a place we haven't won since 03/09/2010?

  • Oh helllllll yeah, offense keeps chugging along, win by 2 or more

  • Nail-biting 1 goal win but let's not come back here anytime soon

  • Panthers classic, up 2-1 late but somehow cough it up late and lose by one in regulation

  • Cats can't shake the Minnesota curse and lay an egg, lose by 2-3 goals

Holy bovine excrement, Batman! What a game!

Trocheck was a beast!! Accari is CLUTCH!

Ekblad redeems his otherwise not great game with a nice assist on the GWG. Yandle has a FOUR point night. o_O Strålman set up Trocheck with a lovely pass and he and Stillman dominated the TOI. That pairing is really solid right now. Defense had EIGHT points tonight.

Congrats to the poll winners, definitely a nail-biter 1 goal win

Thanks. Looking forward to tomorrow's game. :DD

This might be the team guys. This really might be the year the Panthers get through a playoff round. Defense is optional when we can score as much as we do night in and night out.

If this team is firing on all cylinders, I think we can beat Boston. Tampa is another story, they are so deep it's scary, and they're still not even cranking it near 100% yet. They're gonna be a monster come playoff time.

We need to acquire an answer for Marchand though.

Well Strangelove is a happy camper.

Strangelove is generally no one of consequence.

However tonight Strangelove went all in (HF Sporstbook) on your Panthers

... to the tune of $4.5M. :amazed:

Strangelove is sorry for speaking in the 3rd person but that 3rd period led Strangelove to drink.

(Strangelove sometimes talks in 3rd person when Strangelove is half lit)

Strangelove is cheering the Panthers as they could very well bump the evil Leaves out of the playoffs.

Congrats on the win and GO CATS GO!!!

Congrats.

Strangelove must bet on the Panthers every game from now on.

Super impressed with Barkovs goal for the skill and finesse
Proud of Trocheck for that clutch tying goal, you could tell he wanted any goal badly.
Acciari is on pace for 32 goals and 5 assists!. We know how to manufacture cheap 30 goal guys

Glad Yandle could come up big after disappointing in his last 10-12 games.
hONman is on a 9 game point streak, he set the franchise record with 17 last year no?
Vatrano and the Hybrid also heating up.

Also the Acciari GWG was a double tip.

WTF did I just watch! Vinny was great tonight. Matheson has been good lately but he relies to much on the damn poke checks which gets him in trouble 50% of the time. We could have saved the 10 mil on Bob in hindsight, he MUST improve.
If you watch Columbus, they have an excellent coach and a great defense (Jones and Werenski are both studs). They are using goalies that they picked off random Eastern European farms at this point and they're all putting up great numbers. System matters, and Florida doesn't play a system that supports strong goaltending numbers.

This isn't to say Bob has been great, but, compared to the shitshow last year, I'm not scared every time a shot's taken at him. He's just been ok, which is obviously not worth the money he's being paid, but it's not like he's bringing the team down.

Also btw this is how the computer boys wanted Florida to play. Gallant had a more defensive responsible pick your spots team like Columbus or NYI but analytics say a yolo play style where you exchange lots of high danger chances like Florida or Toronto play is better suited to winning

Bobrovsky did make some key saves tonight though. Stalock didn't. We were dead and badly outplayed for at least 40 minutes of the game

The coaching and defence are definitely a big part of it, but also Merzlikins is legit good. Has under-the-radar been one of the top goalie prospects but since he played in the NLA he got zero hype outside of Cbus fans and some European scouts. Used to hate him in international tournaments when he played for Latvia, when year after year he kept them in games they had no business being in.
I mean, you never know how the transition is going to go until it actually happens, but I'm not surprised at all that he's doing well.

Marchand is one of a kind, you'll never find a guy like that with so much skill at the same time.

I think Hawk is not that far off - in terms of pissing of the opposition, speed and physicality

Five game win streak yay :D Would be nice to win after outplaying the opponent but given the Minnesota curse just happy for the two points.
Fun stat: after being unable to win in regulation to start the season, we're now 6th in regulation wins in the NHL. If it gets to tiebreakers for a playoff spot, that could come in handy.

Also, Stillman with over 24 minutes of icetime, second only to Stralman. You've got to love how Q does this - if he thinks someone is playing well, they get the icetime and screw experience or draft pedigree. Giving Weegar a big role to start the year, moving Acciari up, giving Toninato the 3C job... not sure how many coaches would go there.

Still not daring to get my hopes up too much because years of bad experience... February will be tough with all those games. Fingers crossed for a win against Chicago to give us a little cushion there.
