He's a classic tweener. An AHL all-star and great shooter, but a 1-trick pony. Doesn't do anything else well enough to be a top-6 forward in the NHL. Isn't a strong enough defender to be bottom-6 forward.

I can see him getting claimed but not McCarron, zero chance.

Still think he very easily could. I'd say he should be claimed, but he probably won't be. He doesn't play an exciting game in any way, and i'd guess as per usual, most teams are going to be keen to just stick with their own bottom of roster defenceman projects. Just isn't much upside to a guy like Lernout to entice teams...but there are certainly worse defencemen who will be on opening night rosters.

Lernout in not better then Schlemko for sure but you're right for Benn, he's so awful.

Agreed, included Schlemko as i expect only one of benn/schlemko to be on roster maybe they trade schlemko which keeps benn around.
