Wow - did Fedun knock someone off the Stars' depth chart?

Fedun is clearly a better player than Hanley. Both are AHL players but with just Klingberg coming back only one has to go down and it should be the worse of the two.

WHen Carrick is back some time after Christmas it gets interesting. Still likely means Fedun goes down . Too many Righties otherwise.

No. Once a player who was waived remains on a roster for 10 games/30 days, then he needs waivers again.

But that only applies to a player who cleared waivers and then either stayed on or was re-called to the NHL roster after being sent down. On top of that, Smith has barely been on the Bruins roster for 2 weeks, if that. Nowhere close to 30 days.

In Smith's case, he never cleared waivers, so he's still subject to them regardless of how long he's been on an NHL roster.

Thought they had to keep a player claimed on waivers on the roster for a minimum of 30 days before waiving him again??

I think somewhere in the not too distant past, a hockey writer misunderstood the waiver rules and it started to spread a little bit as truth. IMO, they somehow misunderstood the rule that a player that clears requires waivers to go back down after 30 days as a player that gets claimed requires waivers after 30 days and thus can't be waived/demoted for that time period.

There isn't anything in the CBA that mentions a requirement to keep a waiver claimed player on the roster for 30 days.
