I don't think you need to like Anime to watch this show, I mean I don't.

Doesnt it follow the manga too closely? As in it cheapens out on actually animating

Season 1 followed the manga closely. Season 2 has a lot more stuff going on and for whatever reason they decided to cut a lot of panels out, even of fights, which makes it feel rushed. Couple that with the crappy animation, and the fights in the manga feel so much more epic as a result. Why eat at a McDonald's instead of a 5-star restaurant?
