OLN has so far scheduled to classic games to air prior to it's April 24th and 28th playoff doubleheaders.

4/24: 5 PM Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh (1997 Game 5 Eastern Conf. Quarters)
4/28: 5 PM Detroit vs. Colorado (1997 Game 5 Western Conf. Finals)

Other new Hockey programming come playoff time is the previously mentioned "The Tournament" and "Legends of Hockey", as well as the self-explanatory "Mark Messier's Leadership Camp", "Team Spirit" a special on Jordin and Terrence Tootoo and "Lord Stanley's Cup" a special on the Cup narrated by Denis Leary.

At some point they or someone else should show (if they've got the tapes):

1970 - Finals, Game 4: Boston vs. St. Louis
1979 - Semifinals, Game 7: Montreal vs. Boston (sorry, Bruins fans!)
1980 - Finals, Game 6: NY Islanders vs. Philadelphia
1986 - Divison Finals, Game 7: Calgary vs. Edmonton
1986 - Conference Finals, Game 6: St. Louis vs. Calgary
1988 - Finals, Game 4 (the first one): Boston vs. Edmonton
1993 - Finals, Game 2: Montreal vs. Los Angeles
1994 - Conference Finals, Game 6: NY Rangers vs. New Jersey
1996 - Conference Semis, Game 7: Detroit vs. St. Louis (even though it'll hurt yet again)

And yes, they should play Game 6 of the '99 Finals between Dallas and Buffalo (sorry, Sabres fans!).

it'll be interesting to see who's coverage they use...
I bet it's TSN or CBC...

You sure it's this game? The Avs won this game 6-0. (Detroit won the series though) :dunno:

The night Colorado and New Jersey played Game 7 in 2001, ESPN Classic aired (earlier than the live hockey game), as part of a Colorado sports weekend, a Flyers-Rockies' playoffs game from 1978. First and only time I have seen Classic do that game.

What a brilliant idea. They should show the Avs and Detroit game 5 2002 that game was amazing. Or even game 4 the avs at florida the best goaltending duel of all time imo.

A bit of an unusual choice. The biggest reason to show this game has been eliminated with Mario making his comeback. Flyers dominated the game, highlighted by Brind'amour scoring two shorthanded goals in under a minute.

I'd like to see it being that back then the home games were on Prism and I didn't get to see them all.

Are they all confused? Detroit beat Carolina in 5 games.

Well they're not perfect, and it's airing a month in advance, give them 2 or 3 weeks to fix it.

i'll betcha any money those "classic" games will be severly editted...meaning you'll miss some of the action...u won't get to see the original...

just like nhl network....editting games....u might as well just have highlights.....sucks!!! :madfire:

Three things I haven't seen replayed but would like to:

1) Anything between Montreal and Quebec in the 80's.

2) Flames-Oilers playoff series from 1991, any or all.

3) Devils-Rangers, 1994, Game 7

Three things I've seen several times and recommend highly:

1) Islanders-Caps, 1987, Game 7, 4 overtimes

2) Rangers-Islanders, 1984, Game 5

3) Kings-Leafs, 1993, Game 7 (sorry, Buds fans)

They need to show:

1994 - Sabres vs. Devils - Game 6

Hasek vs. Brodeur
4 overtimes

Hasek stops 70 shots in a 1-0 shutout.

One of the most outstanding displays of goaltending, on both ends, in NHL playoff history.

five-overtime games

I sure am glad a 5 on 3 OT winner off a stick went off the ice for half a second and a puck over the glass penalty will save us from those boring extended overtime games where nobody is scoring.
