We needed a break anyway after Doan, may have been hard for some fans (not necessarily me) to accept.

This. I think it was perfect of them to wait a year. OEL was allways first in line when they asked one of the alternating captains to do some captaining duty anyways, so the difference was they waited one year with just the letter.

And this couldn't have been handled better.
