As part of the incentive package in his entry-level contract, Michalek earned a $1 million bonus for ranking among the club's top six forwards in average ice time this season. With 15 minutes, 48 seconds per game entering Monday's finale, Michalek ranked fourth behind Joe Thornton (21:16 with San Jose), Patrick Marleau (20:00) and Jonathan Cheechoo (19:58).

Because Michalek, the Sharks' top draft pick in 2003, was signed under the previous collective bargaining agreement, his $1 million bonus will not count against the club's salary cap.
If I get a chance, I'll plod through Article 50 and try to confirm/deny this.
