Completely mischaracterized Eklund's title and post.. and then threw in your own two cents which many will conflate as Eklund's.

The article says the Oilers made an offer. It doesn't say anything about Kreider to Edmonton. Nor does it say there has been little dialogue, nor does it say he will be traded instead of re-signed, nor does it say the Rangers are expecting at least a 1st.

So you are saying it might happen?

Sam Gagner, 2nd, and Jesse. Rangers will have to take a contract to make the cap work possibly.

Kreider doesn’t seem like a Holland type player though.

Would fit very nicely with McDavid but might not make sense logistically.

The BS detector seems to be working

Edmonton won't be trading an unprotected first rounder for a rental. Not happening.

Edmonton also doesn't have the capspace to add Kreider outright without sending something back, and the Rangers need all the space they can get.

So unless the Rangers are willing to take something like 2nd+Puljujarvi+B prospect for Kreider I really can't see it happening.

Would be a deadly acquisiton... But do Oilers have cap room for him?.. NYR needs to open cap space dont they?

Not really, no.

We have 2.4 mil available today, 3.5 ish mil if Manning gets buried.

However unlikely it is he hits them, Smith has the potential to earn 2 mil in bonuses so we should leave some room.

Ergo, we'd have to send money back, probably in the form of Manning or Gagner.

Absolutely no way Edmonton would give up their 1st for a rental Kreider. Signed Kreider maybe under the right terms of the deal.

I could see a D prospect like Jones or Bear as being part of the offer from EDM.

Persson coming overseas this year, Berglund available to come over next year. Jones/Lagesson ready to graduate from the AHL. Bear/Day there already. Bouchard/Samorukov joining the Condors this year. Broberg next year. Things are getting pretty crowded.

Rangers are loaded with d prospects. Imo they'd prefer draft picks or a center.

Nah if anything buying out Shattenkirk points to us keeping Kreider for now. If we were trading Kreider than shattenkirk probably doesnt get BO.

And the offers so far in this thread are so bad. We dont need Puljujarvi, and certainly dont want him as a main piece for Kreider
I mean it depends, is your direction still retooling this year ? if yes, then they will trade Kreider for sure

We're a bad place to look for a centre. We've got three really good ones we're not moving, a pile of crap, then a couple prospects we can't really afford to move either.

Picks, maybe.. but looking at your roster on Capfriendly, it sure looks like there would be a spot for a cheap NHL ready young defenceman.
