Looks like a mediocre at best AHLer that can potentially stay afloat in a bottom pairing role at the nhl level.
Does he have injury problems?
Last year his best year. A 26 year old hopefully entering his peak year? Or just an AHL signing and call up when the 80 or so guys we have ahead of him get injured?

Bear was probably our most consistent D-man last year, how on earth is he not in the top 6?? Also love this pick up, next to no money and a guy who challenges Jones directly.

This is a perfect depth signing, and at 26 years old he's still getting better and could be a long-term option depending on what happens with some of our other defencemen.

At worst he is on the taxi squad. There is no way he is playing in AHL.
He will be challenging Russell/Jones for a top 4 spot.
Decent depth signing. I would have preferred Hutton who has at least logged heavy minutes at some point in his career (in case of a Nurse injury) but this is fine too. It would have been a tough task to ask Lagesson or Lennstrom to fill in if Jones falters or gets injured.

A few plays don't define a player. What he did in rest of the season as a rookie was remarkable. At worst Bear will be on 3rd pairing with Jones. Bouchard will have to wait for either an injury or Larsson to regress.
