The Oilers have been very busy the past few weeks and will consider this successful even if no further trades occur in the final hours. A recap will be posted tomorrow.
That said I remain open to more trades but the old thread has become messy with all the moves and so here’s a quick list with the deadline looming.
Noteworthy Available Forwards:
Grabner & Filpula – among the two I assumed would move the fastest, given their quality stats, there was lots of tire kicking and talks but no serious buyers while lesser players have been traded quickly
Carr & Clutterbuck – only other forwards from the original list not already moved. Not asking a lot.
Available Dmen:
Demers, Benn, Davidson, & Del Zotto - Overall the market for dmen has been weak so asking prices in recent days have come down a bit
Salary Cap Considerations – with all the moves already made we have lots of salary room. Therefore if anyone needs to clear room and dump a bad contract to enable a trade I can likely accommodate that (assuming it’s an expiring contract).
