:edmonton Andre Burakovsky @ 50% (1 year left until RFA), Madison Bowey
    :caps Jesse Puljujarvi, Zack Kassian

Cap is workeable with this. Washington takes on 375k.

Caps would not retain on Bura.

It'd only be for one year. The cap wouldn't work otherwise for the Oilers, unless the Caps would be willing to take Sekera, which I highly doubt.

Oilers should do this, McDavid played with Bura in Erie.

Values prolly fair, but I think Puljuuuuuuuuuuujaarjivui is a bust, so the caps should say no.

Edit: I'm not a great speller. PLZ forgive if i spelt the finn guys name wrong.

Yeah, I see. However, Caps can't take salary either. I wouldn't be opposed to Bura for Pull as a base, but it does seem like many Oiler fans are for it. Don't know if Bowey is enough to sweeten it for them either. Personally, I wouldn't be opposed to throwing him in, I think Hobbs pushes Bowey out next year...

Leonsis policy on the retaining. He did that to trade Jagr and said never again. Just as soon keep Burakovsky. Meanwhile , why do the Caps want the Oil players?

Would they be willing to take on Sekera's contract then?

I forgot that the NHL worked on a caste system, and the Oilers are the untouchables.

Why would they? Capitals aren't rebuilding and i don't think Sekera cracks their roster, so that contract is brutal for them. Hell Capitals don't even need Kassian once Wilson is back on the roster.

I wouldn't be opposed to Puljujarvi-Burakovsky kind of swap but part of that is because that would clear some cap space for us. If you take that away without having another roster player Capitals could use then it becomes tricky. I don't think a bigger trade would work, either, so the best bet is propably Oilers using another team to gain enough cap space to make it work. Then do a swap with the Capitals maybe adding a small piece to make it fair.

I don't want Kassian, at least with Burakovsky we can move his salary after this year. Kassian still has 1 year left.

Right. Why do the Caps want the kid? I can see something there but explain it. Kassian? Why do the Caps want him...particularly when the cost appears to be Bowey?

I’m really meh on this deal. I think we have enough third liners and bottom pairing defencemen.

Russell also has a NMC and doesn’t want to leave Alberta.

I think the premise is that Bura has mildly produced, but probably will hit another gear with a change of scenery to the right team. Is that the oilers? I dunno

With all the great players the Caps can surround him with, I’m not sure why moving him to a team with less great players would be a solution.

This seems like what we tried with Strome and it bit us in the ass. Sometimes a 30 point Guy is just a 30 point guy.

You aren't great at value neither . How can value be fair on one hand then you say Puljujarvi is a bust and the Caps should say no . Plus Puljujarvi will never be a bust because the kid can play a 2 way game . Might not live up to his drafting hype but he will grow into a 40 point defensive responsible winger

Burakovsky definetly has talent. The problem for him is the Caps are quite loaded with good players so there isnt any room for him on the top two lines. They want more of a hard working player on the 1st line since they already have Ovi that can shoot from Kuznetsovs passes and on the second line Back-Oshie have always had good chemistry and Vrana have been a good fit with them. Burakovsky is the odd man out, but on another team where he gets more trust he could very well start to produce a lot. Especially with a player like McDavid since Burakovsky has a very good shot.

Asking Todd McLellan to trust 1) a Euro forward and 2) a young one at that isn’t going to go very far, unless it’s an exceptionally Anglicized and English fluent one like Draisaitl. Todd loves his ‘hard working’ players, as you put it.
