So a big 22 year old top 2 center with 70+pt consecutive seasons, already considered the best hockey player to come out of Germany, and a Finnish 20 year old 4th overall pick fast skating sniper that's about to bloom in the NHL after a couple tough years of adaptation and hard work; for 2 young prospects that haven't even played a single NHL game yet and an average d-man that has terrible statistics in his own zone against top competition.

I see why you proposed this, as Carolina needs centers and the perception that Edmonton needs defenseman, but it's a deal that would be a huge gamble to Chiarelli in hopes that those prospects will have success. And with a 21-yr old McDavid that's in his prime right now, it's a gamble that doesn't make much sense right now

There is almost, not quite, but almost no deal that you could pose that includes Svechnikov that the Canes fans would be willing to consider rationally. From the tiny sample size he's just too valuable of an ELC asset to even consider moving at least until we get a larger sample.
Draisaitl would give the Canes the #1 centre..
Pulijujarvi-Gives the Canes a former high pick who has played well with Aho..

Svechnikov-Almost scored a goal a game in the OHL- would give McDavid a scoring right winger. A controllable asset.
Bean-A good skating offensive D prospect for the new NHL.
Faulk- A right shooting D who could help the Oilers right now..

This move would also free up cap space allowing the Oilers to go after UFA like Mark Stone or Matt Duchene

What does being the best German player have to do with anything?

As if they have such a rich history - seems like a really strange argument to make.

Draisaitl salary might be $1M+ too high, but he is not the problem. The other terrible deals need to be included if there is any chance to get a player like Draisaitl.

No chance the Oilers make this deal that seems to indicate a rebuild. McDavid would want out if such a deal is being proposed.

I've been trying to figure out what being Finnish has to do with anything either, drai and Puljus talent/potential yes, their nationality no.

Passports don't score goals.

Yea we arent trading a near PPG center who is 22 years old (and is a beast in the playoffs) for that package alone
Let alone adding in Pulju

We dont make good trade partners.

Sigh.

If Drasiaitl is going to Carolina, a piece is coming back you don't even want to talk about. This has been done a million times already.

Close thread.

Im surprised other Canes fans are saying no. Im excited for Svech too but if you can get a big young 1C (aka exactly what we need) I do it everyday.

Im also a big Puljujarvi fan so thats just icing on the cake.
