Trades each year go as follows- dates maybe off a day or 2 but this is generally how it works - Trades open every year on August 1st ( 2nd round picks and lower rounds can't be traded in their first year except defected 1st round picks, their window is open during training camps) 1st round picks ( this year) can not be moved at the August 1st date. All other players can be moved but some do have NTC so if they agree they can be moved. Trade window stays open until the Christmas break ( dates very each year but usually line up with the last weekend of scheduled play.) Trade window opens again when kids return from Christmas break except World Junior players - they cannot be traded until their team has finished at the WJT. 1st round picks can be traded after Jan 1st until the final trade window closes. Trade window closes for all players around Jan 8,9,10 depending on the year and where that date falls - usually a Tuesday or Wednesday. OA's trade window closes one day before the rest of the players. You can still sign protected players until mid February if you have cards available. Trade window opens again on June 1st and closes June 3oth. Thus ends a full year of trading. Remember dates do flex a bit depending on where they fall.

Not to also discount that typically that most teams top 1-3 round picked players generally have NTC in their contracts to begin with, as well and very few wave those NTCs unless the kid thinks that they aren't getting the minutes they were promised or external matters that arise in the kids first season that creates difficult situations for teams managers.

Although most kids generally play 1 full season before requesting a change in organizations.

Every player in the league that is still in high school, regardless of what round he was drafted in has a no trade clause.

Is the deadline open or is it next week?

Trade window officially opened today to my knowledge although like most teams at this point before teams training camps start.

I don't expect to see any movement as of yet this simply because both players and teams have no idea on where they'll start the season especially those ones who are NHL drafted prospects.

We could see movement closer to training camps depending on the teams who could sell or who could buy.

At this point in time there's really one seller and that's the Hounds due to they have a good portion of there team that could return to the league and will age out.

Beyond that the league is still wide open for deals till they start being officially announced by teams.

Hearing spotty information via Gens that something is going to happen in the next day or so.

It would appear that the league trade floodgates have been opened for 2018/19 after the Firebirds just recently acquired OA tender Emanuel Vella.

Hearing from the Generals Twitter page

With the trade freeze being lifted today with the Firebirds acquiring Emanuel Vella earlier today not long after the Generals Twitter page lit up with announcement forthcoming.

Would think movement or signing could be on the horizon for Gennies fans in the next few days

The trade freeze lifts on August 1st, but the long weekend in Ontario with the holiday on Monday, Aug. 6th means most trades won't start happening (or at least be announced) until Tuesday the 7th.
In the last 3 off seasons, there have been between 5 and 9 trades made in August, before training camps get under way.........including Vella last August.

Deals can be made between clubs tentatively in the league without league approval even while trade freezes is on.

For the most part the teams that will make minor tweaks before camps start in a few weeks generally think that they'll need a piece to build around or are giving players a chance to get more playing time.

More then likely will see some shuffling of picks around and players movement in the next few weeks before camps start like every season

this simply ended up being announcing a date for single-game tickets becoming available.. bit of a let down.

If he were just half as good as his old man he'd be the starter for a team in this league.
