London will almost certainly keep Patterson, at least until the deadline. The import selection of Julius Bergman, who has a one year OHL shelf life, suggests London will at least attempt another run. Furthermore, Assistant GM Simpson was quoted in May as saying the job is Patterson's. All possible threats to Patterson have played a combined 0 OHL games: Parsons ('97 FA), Latorella (Honeybaked '98, staying in the States this year), Vella (TJC '98, probably JrB). If Rupert returns, it's 4 O/A'ers for 3 spots: Rupert, Welychka, Mermis, Patterson. I imagine Patterson stays with no other proven alternative in what's been indicated publicly and tangibly as a run year. If London starts sluggish and sells at the deadline, it would be wise to sell Patterson to an interested contender.

@pollard1963: Nothing major but expect a minor deal or two for the Peterborough Pete's Monday. Too many bodies in camp. #OHL

And with new developments, this is a situation to keep an eye on. With the Marlies obtaining depth, it's increasingly looking like unsigned Matt Rupert will return. That same contention may hold true for Matt's signed twin Ryan Rupert. In the meantime, London acquired a '95 goalie (Giugovaz). The writing's on the wall that unless both Horvat and Domi are returned, arrows heavily point to London carrying 2 O/As up front and 1 on D (Mermis). This would leave Patterson as the odd man out as London would seek a non-O/A option in net (whether the solution is a current Knight or not). Unless Patterson dominates, I theorize his London fate will be determined by factors extrinsic to him, namely the outcomes of Domi and the Ruperts.
