Offside Challenge

?

Should there be a limit to the coach's use of the offside challenge?

  1. Yes.

  2. It's good the way it is.

  3. Get rid of it altogether.

Should there be a time limit or possession disqualification for a coach to challenge a goal as being offside?

i would be fine if they scrapped it completely. I'll take a few eggregious missed calls per year vs taking away a lot of goals because of nanometers or a blade being off the ice surface.

Not a fan of having a goal called back after 30 seconds of cycling because the team was slightly offside on the zone entry.

should only be allowed if the goal is scored on that initial rush.

if a minute of zone time happens before the goal its not because of the offsides, its because you suck

The rule should be that if the defensive team gains possession any previous offside is nullified and the goal stands. If a team goes in offside and cycles the puck for 30+ seconds but never loses possession and then scores then they directly benefited from the offside play and the goal should be disallowed but if the defensive team gains possession and is unable to clear, that's on them.

It would also probably make it a lot quicker if the league reviewed it and not the refs. If a play is close to being offside they can review it while play is still going on, while the players celebrate, and while the coach looks at the iPad to decide if he's challenging it or not that way if they do challenge they can give an answer in seconds instead of having the ref go over and start the process after the game has already been delayed while the coach thought about what to do.

An awful addition to the NHL. Get rid of it or let it be league initiated if it was blatant and directly caused the goal.

You already get a penalty if it turns out it was onside. That is enough.

I’d be okay with this. It’s technically a delay of game.

Coach gets in the box, and has to run back to the bench when the play is over

Hated it the first year, but now that they added a 2 minute penalty for being wrong, I'm indifferent.

The cheering for the other team to clear the puck on your PPs because you’re convinced that your team entered the zone offside and don’t want all your PP time wasted on a goal that won’t even count if scored(you obviously only get the time back if you score). That’s the pinnacle of fun right there.
