Wow, was literally about to post the same thread.

I'm expecting some faults in logic building, as usual.

That means trading our high seconds, not our low ones. Probably drafting a good player like Dobson.

I could see Poehling be in play.

I'm almost sure Scherbak is a goner.

It's ridiculous, they wouldn't let us do it last season when it was obvious we were trash.. and now following a season where we were in the bottom 5 teams in the league, we can't have a tank thread when it's obvious they arent gonna be better this year?

I was thinking with Galchenyuk gone and the 20-30 goals he brings gone and even more Cap room (~$1.7 million more free space with Max Domi instead), what if Montreal went after both Tavares and James van Reimsdyk. They actually have the cap space to do it now and it would instantly revolutionize their top-6 group. JVR is also a power-play beast, so that fixes another problem (how he got 36 goals this season with a mere 14:54 of ice-time)

Also, getting JVR lets Montreal trade Pacioretty for a 2nd pairing puck-moving Dman (which given he would be a 1 year rental is probably the best they could get) and still have a 30+ goal scoring left-winger to put beside Tavares

Overall not bad at all. Still a bit of a hole at 2nd line right wing, but that is something which can be addressed fairly easily. Left wing is stacked and Centre is solid with Tavares as well (I think Drouin while miscast as "The Guy" at 1C would make a fine 2C). Add to that an improved blue-line (with whomever they manage to net in return for Patches) and a healthy Price and you have a Playoff team again next year... of course that is with the big "if" of those FA signings.

NOTE: I am not a Habs fan so if I screwed something up with the lines, I am sorry.

New Take: the most unexpected thing Bergevin can do is to do a good job.

Put it down MB is going to sign Jumbo Joe.

Thats all he can do with the cap space. JT isn't coming here so he will throw a huge 1 or 2 year contract at Thorton.

Worst part about it is at 39 Joe is probably our best or 2nd best player and the teams best C.

Expect the unexpected is always my prediction for the moves MB will make so I have no idea.

But I do think Pacioretty stays, has a career year finally hitting 40 goals, signs a giant contract and then never scores more than 25 again.
