glad felix girard made this team, saw him once this season and he was wearing an "A" as a 16 yr old. He worked so hard and was on the pk every time.

Really shocked that Chandler Stephenson and Troy Bourke didn't make the team. Thought Stephenson was one of the most consistent threats at camp. But goaltending will be a very big issue if these tendys don't play better than they did at camp.

So glad Gemel Smith made the team! He's a terrific young player and is definitely a guy to watch as a big riser in the 2012 draft rankings this season. Going from a 6th Round Pick to Ivan Hlinka roster, incredible!

I wasn't at camp, but I've never really been impressed with Stephenson...even if he is a Saskatoon boy.

He always seemed to get lost in the shuffle in the games I attended or watched...and that's not saying much considering the crap team the Pats iced.

He was a different player at this camp. Although I thought he looked a little tentative going into the corners, he was flying up and down the ice finding open teammates and creating chances for his team. I thought he played better than Hudon

I also liked Ryan Pulock a lot more than Matheson or Pouliot.

I was really hoping to see Pulock make this team, so underrated. But he was the only '13 draft eligible defenceman on the camp roster, so I guess that's something to be proud of.

Since you were there could you tell me more about his performance?

Gianluca Curcuruto's exclusion shocks me. Had had some good games against Spotter's Rangers last season.

A bit shocked Curcuroto did not make the club, especially after seeing some hilites with him, but I guess no one should be shocked as Ryan Murphy was cut last year and the team still won gold.

It did sound Altshuller played well at camp though?

I really wish Murray hadn't gotten injured. Would have liked to get a better look at him. I think he could've easily challenged for a spot.

Altshuller came into camp as the projected #1 in Hockey Canada's eyes and that's how he left.

To the above comment, Matt Murray, goaltender for Sault St. Marie.

Surprised that Curcuruto, Pulock, Magee and Stephenson didn't make it.

Solid, could play in all situations. Made good first passes out of the zone, and made it hard on the other teams forwards shift in, shift out. Just an all around solid performance.

The team was having dinner at Stadium Keg tonight and I chatted very briefly with Griffen Reinhart and Kerby Rychel. I recognized Reinhart and I'm assuming the other kid was Rychel as he told me he played for Windsor. I congratulated them on making the team and told them to bring home the GOLD again!

They looked like a loose and relaxed group ready to go for their 4th straight title.

Reinhart is a BIG kid, can't wait to see how he develops in his draft year.

With the points Bourke put up last year in the dub, I am surprised he didnt make the cut......the kid is slick and offensive.

This is an interesting age group for Canada.

The defence pool is the strongest I can remember as the coaching staff could have possibly selected all future 1st rounders on the back end.

Conversely, the forward talent might be the weakest in memory as there's only a single potential top 10 to 15 pick in Sean Monahan and he's a late birthday. And there might only be 3 others who would go on the 1st day if the draft happened today.

And the absence of elite goaltending continues as this will be the 6th consecutive age group for Hockey Canada without a consensus top 30 goalie entering the under 18 tournament cycle.

Monahan isn't draft eligible til next year if you were suggesting him getting drafted this year.

If i mis-understood, my bad ;)
