I know many people here like to predict the games, so I thoght it whould be a good idea to make a prediction thread for all games on each day.

So to get things started, here is my predictions for Wednesday:

13.00 ITA - CAN 2-7
15:30 SUI - FIN 3-4

GER vs. CZE: 1- 5 (Jagr)

11:30 KAZ - SWE 1-8
- Very likely blowout

13.00 ITA - CAN 0-9
- I can't imagine Italy being capable of stopping Canada's lines. They might be capable of stopping one or two scoring lines but no matter what lineup Canada has, every line can be thought as scoring line.

15:30 SUI - FIN 1-2
- I believe that Finland still hasn't overcome the scoring problems that has plagued us for years. Thus predicting a very even game in terms of numbers, even if Finland would dominate the game otherwise.

17:00 GER - CZE 1-7
- Guesstimating a Jagr show here...

20.00 RUS - SVK 4-5
- The most even match for the day, both teams have great offensive guys, I expect lots of goals.

21:00 LAT - USA 1-4
- I doubt USA will get a blowout victory on this one, but I definitely do expect them to win this clearly.

A Latvian team that lost to Italy 5-4 is only going to lose to the U.S. 2-1? Whatever. :shakehead

On top of the World
This is the day for surprises. Most players from the big 7 will come into town jetlagged big time, and, in Sweden's and Canada's case, play at ungodly hours. I don't think it should suffice for any surprise, but I don't think we will see any blowouts.

KAZ-SWE: 1-7 (Kolesnik will do alright, but Swedes'll be too much, even without Forsberg and Naslund)
ITA-CAN: 0-10 (I don't see the Italians with more than 3 shots)
SUI-FIN: 1-3 (Finns will have trouble, and Abbie will play well, but Finns will win)
GER-CZE: 1-5 (Ollie is used to playing in games like this. Dude just can't get a break)
RUS-SVK: 6-4 (Slovaks have offense, but for whatever reason Jan Lasak doesn't instill fear)
LAT-USA: 0-5 (It'll take USA a few minutes to get their legs under them, but once the 2nd period begins, expect them to roll)

I can keep track of cumulative standings (just based on W-L) throughout the tournament as well....most people should be in teh same area after today...but soon enough we'll get into the tough matchups

KAZ 0 - SWE 7
ITA 0 - CAN 8
SUI 2 - FIN 3
GER 1 - CZE 3
RUS 4 - SVK 5
LAT 2 - USA 5

KAZ - SWE 1-5
ITA - CAN 1-7 (Yeah, Canada > Italy in all aspects, but I don't expect Italy to get embarassed like their women counterpart. At least the men's side got some European pros... I expect 15 shots at best from Italy)
SUI - FIN 1-3
GER - CZE 2-6
RUS - SVK 5-4 (goaltending is suspect)
LAT - USA 3-6 (no, I don't have much confidence in DiPietro. If he's starting. I have a feeling the US offense will have to bail him out)
