Calgary scores on a Oileresque fire drill in front of our net, and hold on to win it 2-1.

Really having trouble generating offense now with last year's top line gone. Coaching and systems play is great but Calgary capitalized on two terrible sequences to beat us.

What a frustrating game to watch tonight. Two oiler-esque p*ss poor decisions handed Calgary the two points. Don't know what Orban was thinking on the first goal with that terrible pass. Also, even though Baddock is a "veteran" the play dies on his stick. Can't have him anchor down the line with arguably their most dynamic offensive player Kulda. End rant/

Probably the worst second period I've seen the Oil Kings play. 5 GA.

6-2 loss to Kamloops. Eller missed on three Grade A scoring chances in the first.

Hopefully the coaching staff can get the boys going. Backchecking by the forwards is especially weak right now, leading to sustained pressure, scrambles, and goals from screens.

The import decision has to be made tomorrow too. As it sits right now I'm expecting Ibragimov to be released, there is just no room on the D both right now and in the future really. There is also a much more pressing need up front right now. Anything could happen though.

Yeah, if they were considering keeping him you think they'd be playing him.

They may have been trying to evaluate how much of a chance they have of going deep in the playoffs/defending the crown with Eller and Kulda.

Going off the last few home games it doesnt look too good atm. Neither Eller nor Kulda have played particularly well as of late.

Cole Benson is our leading scorer ffs. They may go younger and we could see a fire sale of older guys. Will be interesting to see what they do.

And then you look at who's on the back end now and in the future, and it's tough to say if he's really good enough to crack the lineup. This year with Sautner, Orban, Mayo, Irving, Mills and Carroll he likely doesn't play except when there is injuries, then you have guys like Yewchuk, Dawson and Patterson on the way soon. Tough lineup to crack.

Rough game for Jarry, nice to see Dea do well coming in cold like he did. Need more offence so hope with the Import situation they can maybe work a deal with maybe a D since we have 8 to get someone who can put the puck in the net. Which Euro and D do you offer up?

As knee-jerk as it sounds, our season is riding on it.
Not knee jerk at all. Getting Lazar back enables us to shift all of our other centres down a line and makes our attack far more balanced. With a threat like Lazar on the top line secondary skill guys like Bauer will have more room to operate, not to mention the fact that it should take some pressure off Pollock, Eller and Kulda to produce primary offence.

Hopefully he'll be back in Oil Kings silks by November!

Much better effort so far by the Kings today. Up on Brandon 3-0 after 40 mins.

Don't look now, but we're off to our best start..ever? forever ever?...

7W 3L with four straight wins over the Wheaties, and a few lesser lights.
Kulda finally got going, Pollock's rolling along, and Cole Benson, as IATL predicted, has figured out the league.

Lazar looks like he'll stick on the Sens this year, so it's great that the boys are stepping up. We may not contend for the Eastern Conference title, but we won't bottom out like the Sh*thawks.

It's worth mentioning that every Oil Kings game is available on the Neulion online subscription, and also on hockeystreams. Not that I'd want to hurt the Oil Kings' bottom line, but the more people we can get to watch this team, the more support they'll get, and they deserve the positive buzz. Too many Oilers fans are blissfully happy with dropping hundies on the big wreck, but turn up their noses at the better Oil in town.

Oil Kings have acquired 18 year old defenseman Jake Kohlhauser from Victoria. Basically compensation for releasing Ibragimov to Victoria.

Really good to hear. I've know the kid his whole life so kind of cool that he's back in edmonton, although his parents live out in BC now. Definitely be going to see him play soon.
