That OUA East vs West table is interesting.

Could you expand it to show Wins at home vs away? It looks like the East is dominate, but is that because most of the games were played in the East? I know that's not entirely true, just curious how much Home Ice impacts that number.

I believe that it is a 50/50 split, or something close.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 35 ~ 2023-24 ~ POLL 17 ~ JANUARY 28, 2024

Nobody switched categories this week (except that the Urban Cowboys slipped from C to C-, which does not affect rankings of other teams).

Toronto Metropolitan is now teetering on promotion from C+ to B, whilst Lakehead and MacEwan are teetering on promotion from C to C+.

The only side with imminent relegation is Carleton, going from C+ to C. They are 1-7-1 against the other C+ teams.

FWIW, when a team is teetering I usually give them a week to sink or swim. Time is running out, so final rankings are just a couple weeks away.

Right now UNB Is on one elite level and then everybody else follows.
It's that simple!
In the AUS.
Gardiner MacDougall schools those other AUS programs.
He gets the best players in that Conference and has the requisite structure and process and most importantly "culture" to win.

Alberta, at least the current edition of the Golden Bears no longer dominates the Canada West the way it once did.
The fact is Alberta has had SIX different Head Coaches win National Titles: Clare Drake, Billy Moores, Rob Daum, Eric Thurston, Ian Herbers and Serge Lajoie.
Impressive.
But, now the Canada West is up for grabs.
UBC and Calgary have taken big steps.
Mount Royal and Saskatchewan competitive as well.
When Rob Daum coached the Golden Bears Alberta outshot teams about 42-24 on the balance of the season...and had a combined 115-120% on Special Teams.
They had 14 WHL Forwards/8 WHL D/3 WHL goalies...

Current edition Golden Bears are deep on D...but lack depth at FWD.
Shots are about 32-27 per game for Alberta.
Alberta's PP is poor. Currently 7th in the Conference.

That said Ian Herbers' teams have seemingly been able to elevate down the stretch, which is why an "Average" Golden Bears team made it to the University Cup Final last year...and no question the Bears with a far deeper team in March 2022 than now...should have beaten UQTR in the Final that year

Well the Bears did add two huge recruits for the second half in Aiden Del La Gorgendiere and Connor McClennon. I still expect to see them at the Nationals in March.

Alberta will have earn it, as there are 5 teams in the hunt.
Bears and Huskies are accustomed to being there, but Calgary and UBC have had a taste and Mount Royal looks to be very strong.

It might be foolish to ever count the Bears out, but if they finish 5th I can’t see them getting to Nationals….would have to beat two very good teams on the road.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 35 ~ 2023-24 ~ POLL 18 ~ FEBRUARY 4, 2024

The make-up games on Mondya and Tuesday between Sask and Holy Trinity put this poll back. No teams shifted, but Carleton looks likely to move down and Lakehead looks ready to move up. The final weekend is coming, so shifts will be made quite freely in the final ranking.

Just noticed - Lakehead and Laurier had the same records going into the final weekend 13-12-2. Think the OUA or Usports sites may have had a Laurier result or two flipped at the time you pulled the info.

OFFICIAL HOLLYWOOD TOP 35 ~ 2023-24 ~ POLL 19 ~ FEBRUARY 11, 2024

The final poll is here and there were two switches - Lakehead moves from C back to C+ (where they spent most of the season) and Carleton finally moves down from C+ to C.

There several anomalies this year.

In the AUS, nobody came close to challenging UIB. Either UIB is way better than usual, or nobody else could even reach the B level.

In the CW, I have never seen a distinct Tier 1 and Tier 2 as evolved this year. Not one C+ team. Are any of the B teams capable of playing at the A level?

In the OUA, the numbers skewed heavily in favour of the East over the West. That was perhaps a bit of a surprise. The OUA was 4-7 against the AUS (including 0-4 v UIB), and 4-0 against the CW (all by Lakehead, once over Regina and thrice over Manitoba).
